Belo Horizonte, a city surrounded by mountains!

"A Big Town!"

Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais state, and the third largest city in Brazil.
The city is surrounded by the Serra do Curral Mountains, which serve as a natural backdrop, as well as a historical reference.
As many other big towns, Belo Horizonte has it's problems like lots of cars in the streets and some places are somehow noisy. On the other side there are some quiet and full of nature places like Mangabeiras Park.

If you want to have a good time outside the city there are lots of places nearby that you can visit, like:
- Cave Circuit (best ones in Lagoa Santa and Sete Lagoas)
- Historical Cities like Ouro Preto, Mariana,Tiradentes - municipalities that date from the 17th century with lovely baroque churches, chapels and works of art
- Serra do Cipó National Park (ecoturism) with beautiful rivers, rapids and mountains
