There are many lodging options, with sophisticated old architecture inns or simple colonial houses offering standard service quality and comfort.
If you haven't booked anything in advance don't worry. There are plenty of nice hotels for all budgets. Of course this is considered to be an expensive city but still there are some cheaper solutions. Don't forget to negotiate...!

If this is still too much for you , you can stay in São João del Rei, only 14 kilometers away, and commute to Tiradentes in the local bus.
A charming little pousada in Tiradentes.
Country side style, with a nice garden and swimming pool. There is even a small spa with possibily of massages... Very relaxing atmosphere.

The only little problem was that the location was not very central. So I had a hard time finding it when I arrived at the station. But then, you can reach the city center walking about 10 / 15 mn.
Very good service, breakfast included, private parking spaces, near the city historical center.
I recommend for the very comfortable and pleasant stay, and for their good price.

We rented a Pousada there that was VERY VERY nice! We were a lot, so we rented the hole pousada!!!
