Hotel Fort Orange: Pleasant place to stay

The staff and service was outstanding. Not much english spoken here. The room was okay, alittle worn, but everything worked and housekeeping was good. The breakfast buffet was incredible. Fresh fruit and juices, breads and cakes, wonderful coffee. Other meals were also very good. The dinners are good, big, and reasonably priced. We would return to this hotel for sure. I wouldn't recommend it for those needing five-star lodgings. But if you want a nice quiet place for a good price this is it.

I read some reviews others have posted that were negative about this hotel. It's not the Ritz, but I loved it. The location, beach, pool, especially the staff.

Nice pool area with a gate opening to beach access. The beach is typical notheast Brazil, gorgeous. Fort Orange, a 16th century Portugese fort is only a three minute walk. A number of little beach bars/restaurants line the beach near the hotel. Waiters will run beers to your table at the oceans edge. The beers are those 600ml bottles served in little plastic coolies with iced glasses. The Manatee research facility is minutes from the hotel as well.

The art and furnishings in the hotel were very nice. Paintings, sculpture and antique wooden furniture added interest and atmosphere to the hotel.

A bird sanctuary island is also right offshore from the beach. A 5 minute boat ride (7 R$ round trip)
