A Touristy Village

With excellent beaches in Pernambuco, I was surprised in most of the visited places by the absence of the usual commercial stalls. As a matter of fact, everything is sold in the beaches, but Porto de Galinhas was the only place where, walking in the streets, I felt that tourism is the main activity in town. Small shops line the streets, and, maybe, that's connected (origin or consequence?) with the high Portuguese preference.

"Mergulho"

Este foi meu primeiro mergulho, devo dizer que por enquanto ainda é o único.
Foi uma emoção maravilhosa.

Porto de Galinhas é um lugar maravilhoso!! Suas águas tem uma cor incrível e cada pedacinho explorado te faz ficar cada vez mais apaixonado pelo lugar.
Sentir a brisa enquanto o sol te acaricia, e os olhos se deleitam com a visão do mar.

Fiz esta viagem com a minha mãe!
Olhem esta paisagem...
Que privilégio maravilhoso estar neste lugar.

""Downtown" Porto de Galinhas"

There is basically one main road into Porto and it terminates at a circle in the middle of town. From the circle there are a couple of car roads and a couple of pedestrian roads that lead off from it. The pedestrian roads make up a shopping and eating district. This view is the main walking road that connects the circle to the beach and the diving pools.

This is the main enterance to the beach and tidal pools. This picture was taken near high tide in the evening. I was pretty amazed at the tidal shifts in Porto; during high tide the water would come right up to the wall and you could not see the rocks that form the tidal pools that you see so many pictures of, but during low tide there is almost ten meters of sandy beach batween the wall and the water and it looks like you could walk five hundred meters out into the ocean on all the rock reefs that apear.

Looking north up the beach. This is what most of the beach looks like around Porto....... Thinking about the 84 degree water sure makes me miss it !
