Florianopolis to Balneario de Camboriu

by JoeU

I'm wondering what is the most convenient way to reach
Balneario de Camboriu. Does anyone know if there is
any public transport, eg. bus services, from Floripa to
Camboriu? If yes, how long does it take? Or would flying
to Curitiba and then going to Camboriu be any easier?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe! Its an one hour trip by bus from floripa, buses running every one hour or so... just go to florianopolis bus station and ask fo a ticket to camboriu... catarinense is the one that makes it more often.

Travel Tips for Florianópolis

Surfing in Floripa

by Jaxom

For most people to become a pro you have to be born to surf in every way from body shape to mind. Most people think surfing is too easy, but if you keep reading my article you will hear just how hard it is to surf. When you are out there, the waves look like monster.

There are a lot of waves in the ocean big and small you must learn which waves are the best to use. Try to look in for a wave that is 1meter high. When you have found this type of wave go to the next step.

When a hunter hunts he has to find game and finding game is one thing catching it is another surfing is the same thing one thing to find another to catch. As soon as you find the right wave make sure it is 10 yards away then start paddling as it gets closer paddle harder and faster. When you think you caught the wave try to stand up which I will tell you about in the next paragraph.

When you stand up you kind of have to do the worm and then a monkey jump all at once which is why surfing is so hard. When you get up you have to stand up you have to put your feet in the exact right spot other whys it will tip and you will fall. So the first leg has to go right at your knee in less then a second and the other leg goes where your chest is. When you have all this done and standing up make sure your hips is facing the side and bend your knees with balance.

I should have told you this first, but if you want to buy a board get a 9 foot soft board because these are easier to balance. If you buy a short board I wish you luck because you are a long way from standing up. Long hard boards are too dangerous for kids.

To me surfing is one of most fun sports I have ever done in my life. If I could help any body at surfing I would, but I can’t. I strongly recommend starting surfing to anybody between the ages of 11-14. But I do recommend classes first.

Palacio Cruz e Souza

This former government palace is probably the most beautiful building of Floripa. The outside painting reminds on the casa rosada but the real thing is inside: beautiful wooden floors, wonderful stucco-ceilings and cast-iron railings. It houses now the Historical Museum, entrance is free. To be honest the exponates (weapons, documents etc.) maybe only of interest for locals.

Praia de Ibiraquera

by randychiara

You can go there by the same road that goes to Rosa Beach turning right on the crossing where there’s a Gas Station, ask locals if you get lost. Another way to reach the place is going south of the Garopaba’s main entrance mantaining on the BR 101 and turning left on the Ibiraquera Park Sign.

This way will lead you to the other side of the Lagoa de Ibiraquera. Depending on the conditions you will have to cross this lagoon, which is pretty easy. The wave itself is a long , perfect left that breaks close to the island, there’s a channel right in front of the island.

During big days it is the only way in. This left when is rolling has been compared to Uluwatu by experienced surfers. There’s also some good waves all over the beach , both lefts and rigths. The best swell is E, SE and the wind light NE or W. During strong NE winds sometimes you’ll have to share those waves with windsurfers.During mullet season surfing is forbidden, some conflicts have been reported there due the heavy fishermen population that live there.

Florianopolis is a great place! It has over 50 different beaches and a lake in the middle.

Santa Catarina is one of the most developed states of Brazil and people have a relatively high living standard.

Don't worry about hotels. There are thousands of beds.
