Sandboarding in the dunes
by cybergenic
Ask the locals where you find Joaquina Beach
Just as you walk down the road toward the beach you will see a bar. Opposite the bar are some huge sand dunes. There is a guy that rents out sandboards by the hour. I think it was 10Reals per hour.
It's good fun but very hard work.
Take some water and sun glasses.

Turn right on the Praia da Ferrugem Sign when you’re almost arriving at Garopaba City by the main road (you can see the Mormaii factory really close by). The road will lead you directly to the beach where you are going to see many bars, restaurants and small markets.
During summer this is place pumps party and a lot of tourists. The night clubs close their doors by dawning, good place for Party Animals. The break itself is one of the most consistent breaks in Garopaba / Imbituba region. There’s always something rideable. The left corner produces good lefts with a channel that take you right on the peak. The best wind is NE, E and E,S,SE swells.
The right corner is called by locals “Australinha “ (Tiny Australia), with light S wind and E,SE swell there’s a good right that peels like Kirra. Right after “Australinha” there’s a beach named Barra or Barrinha, a good beach break with lefts and rigths with good quality when the swell is no bigger than 6 feet.

"Floripa and Isla Santa Catarina"
Florianopolis (called by the locals Floripa) was founded 1673 by Francisco Dias Velho. The actual city is partly on the mainland and partly on Isla Santa Catarina. The architecture of the historical part shows the influence of the Portuguese immigrants (mainly from the Azores) which arrived 1748.Two bridges connect Florianopolis, the famous Hercilio Luz which was planned by Gustave Eiffel and the new double highway bridge.
