Floriparadise is beautiful hostel in the north of Florianópolis. Covered in art painted by local artist the hostel has a wonderful relaxed vibe. Although it is located away from the centre of Floripa it is easy to catch public transport to any of the bars and restuarants in the local area. The hosts are english speaking and very friendly which makes your journey easier when your portuguese is not so good. They are happy to help with any tours or sightseeing you are interested in doing. The hostel is very clean and the beds are comfortable. I can recommend Floriparadise as a must stay hostel in Floripa.
The art is just incredible and the hosts can speak english. It´s also located directly across from the beach.
The best place to start in Floripa is Canasvieiras. It is easy to access, has close proximity to other beaches, and is large, having everything you need, from food to beach accessories to car rentals. There are numerous pousadas all along the main drag, and you rarely need a reservation, especially in low season.
We stayed in Lagoa for a month and rented a one bedroom apartment in the Riviera Apartment complex on Rua Antonio de Silvera in Lagoa da Conceição. Having an apartment while staying for a longer time was really great because we could cook our own meals and save lots of money because eating out in Lagoa is really expensive. Food bought at the market is more or less cheap. We could also get tons of fresh fruit at the Sacola (local veggie store) for less than 5 dollars for a huge bag full of stuff and fresh seafood from the fishermen. The apartmen is fully furnished, tv, internet, and well equipted kitchen. Actually is was less expensive to rent an apartment than stay in a hostel or hotel because we where there for so long. Lagoa is a good base for exploring the rest of the island since it is very central, has great beaches near by and has a year round night life.
The apartment is furnished and the kitchen has all the necessary pots and pans to make great meals. The apartment has a common area / patio with a BBQ and huge table, and private toilet so dinner guest did not have to come into our place. We had a lot of fun meeting people and having them over for dinner or just cooking local food together after a great day at the beach.
If you want a comfortable, safe place to stay close to the Floripa's hottest night life this is a great place to stay. My sister and I stayed there last time I visited Floripa and we loved it. It is two blocks away from all the bars and restaurants of Lagoa da Conceição, and there are also cafés and restaurants close by so we could walk to a delicious breakfast or bring something to eat in the inn. In the room we stayed there was air conditioning, refrigerator, tv, and a nice bathroom. I highly recommend this place! Phone: 55 (48) 3232-6871
Apartments to rent near by dunes and Joaquina Beach. Good rates. Safe. Confortable.
Walking distance to Joaquina, dunes and lake. Sheets and towels. Different kinds of restaurants on the area.
Pousada Ilha Magia is a pousada right off of the beach across from the public access. The pousada is a little off the beaten path from Centro, but it is peaceful, and close to good surfing breaks.
I just spent 3 great nights at Pousada Bizkaia, a 14, or so, room pousada. (I am a female and was traveling alone.)
The location is perfect for singles or couples who want a relaxing time near the beach. You can walk to Lagoa da Conceicao, as well as many bars and restaurants. If you want exercise you are a nice walk, about 1KM, away from Praia Joaquina (a beautiful 2-3 mile long white sand beach famous for surfing) and Praia Mole (a beach known for surfing and beautiful bodies). Of course you can drive there too.
If you are looking for a convenient location, very nice clean but simple rooms (3 tv channels), and a place that's quiet except for dogs and occasional cars driving by, definitely consider this pousada.
The Spanish owner, Juan, built the pousada from the ground up in 1991 and has lived in Florianopolis since 1988. As you can see on the website it is lovely on the outside and equally inside. There really is a tree that grows up through all floors.
The cafe da manha (breakfast) has nice variety of cereals, meat, cheese, fresh fruit, and great coffee. The breakfast room looks like an old stone catacomb...the attention to detail in this rustic inn is marvelous.
I appreciated that my room had granite countertops and clean nice tiling in the bathroom, as well as a balcony.
Juan, his wife, and the staff are all very sweet and helpful. He speaks some English.
CAVEAT ON PAYMENT: He does not accept credit cards during Brazil's winter time (US summer time).
This is a must see/must stay hide-away. Perfect for honey mooners, families or just a retreat for one's soul. High atop a hill in Sao Vicente-Sao Palo overlooking a breathtaking ocean. Just gorgeous!
Take a tour of the old monastary. The rooms are quaint with beuatiful tile work inside and out. It has old world charm with sliding shutters in every room. Clean, friendly staff, good food. There is a pool and wonderful view. The hotel is surrounded by a rain forest-like atmosphere. Just heavenly.
Most employes were nice as most brazilian are, so nothing particular to say about stay or service service,
They are small apartmantes. The best thing it was located 2 blocks from the beach and 3 from little downtown Canasvieiras and still in a quiet place
Valci and Vilma, a husband and wife team have 4 self contained apartmentos 3 minutes walk from the beach at Barra da Lagoa.
It's a fairly quiet fishing village 1 hour from Centro. It is very central to a small supermarket, some restaurants a lovely beach and some fantastic walks.
The apartment i was in had a new kitchen with appliances, a clean bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with 1 double bed.
Valci and Vilma were very caring and had lots of patience for my bad Portuguese.
I stayed during low season so it was not necessary to book. I am sure this place is booked out during summer/new year....
The aprtment was comfortable for one. 2 might be a little squishy but hey, could be fun!
These guest houses are furnished and have small kitchens. They are super clean, very basic and close to the beach. I felt safe staying here and would recommend them to anyone traveling alone or as a couple. Since there are a few apartments on one lot, you can meet other guests and make friends. The apartment is located in Barra da Loga. There is more information at www.ifloripa.com
The apartments are clean, close to everything, quite and the people who run them are friendly.
For those who like home like accomodation, direct contact with Florianopolis' way of life and its friendly people, I suggest considering rent a house just in front of the beautifull sea for a good price.
Located in the south part of the Praia da Solidão, it is one of the few houses that have direct access to the beach.
It's real! As you can see in homepage, you just have to open the backyard gate to walk in the beach without street crossing or carrying beach stuff for long distances.
In its 210 square meters the house offers conditions to accommodate with enough comfort 10 persons.
The main part is composed by a living room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms (1 triple, 2 double and 1 single), 2 bathrooms, laundry and a veranda.
The annex has a three cars garage, BBQ place and an extra double bedroom with a bathroom.
In Florianopolis you can choose between all kinds of stars hotels, outside the city you can take a small simple hotel in front of the beach.
In places like Laguna or Garopaba,i really recomend to stay in one of the fishermen houses!!
yes, many fishermen families holds another small flats in the backyard for young people or surfers,it's cheap, family atmosphere(these guys are just great!!!),homemade food, delicious, fresh seafood and fish if you want, all with private bath and simple basic needs for your stay,it's the real experience when you stay at the locals places, many nice interesting stories about the place around the table sharing some cold beers at night!!Here an example of a small hotel in the beach of Ingleses, outside the city of Florianopolis(but still in the island..)
