Bus from Florianopolis to Porto Alegre

by brownga

My friends and i are travelling from Australia to Brazil at the end of the year. We have to get from Florianopolis to Porto Alegre between February 05-February 15 2008. I was wondering if bus is the best way to do this, how often do they run, what costs are involved and how long does it take?

It takes only 4 to 6 hours. I passed through last year. I got to Florianopolis at midday, and Porto Alegre before nightfall. I went from Sao Paulo to Montevideo, and it cost $100. So I imagine Florianopolis-Porto Alegre is around $25 to $40 at most. I went Uruguaya Lines, but there are many lines. You should have no problems.

Hy Guys! There different bus lines that can take you from Floripa to Porto Alegre. However, I would suggest you a different tour: Florianopolis-Gramado-Porto Alegre.
There is a daily night bus from Florianópolis to Gramado. It leaves Floripa at around 11 PM and arrives in Gramado at 8 AM. It is surely a very comfortable bus and costs around US$ 40 per head. Gramado is an extremelly charming town in the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul state. It is the third most visited spot in Brazil and has many attraction with its tween town Canela. Check www.gramadosite.com.br and www.canelasite.com.br for more information.
From Gramado there are buses to Porto Alegre almost every hour and the cost is around US$12 in the executive bus (which I recommend).

Turn right after the Mormaii Surf Shop in Garopaba City. The road is short but pretty stepy. Make your car move constantly if you want to make it through, sometimes when the road is too wet is almost impossible to make it. Look at other cars to see if it is possible to make it.

Once there you can park your car in the parking lot going straight down on the road or turn right on the first crossing. If you turn on this first crossing you have to leave your car next to a fence in front of a big lawn. Lock your car and go by that small trail that leads you to the right side of the beach. That’s the Real Silveira Wave.

Conditions can get pretty intense there. The wave is a rigth that breaks over rocky botton. The perfect conditions for this spot is S swell and S wind. It can get big, like 12-15 ‘ , being one of the biggest waves in Brazil. When it is like that you have to jump from the rocks to get outside, which sometimes is not easy. With that size this wave is only either for experienced or hardcore surfers. Conditions are much mellower from 4-6 feet making it a perfet wave with lots of sessions for maneuvers.

The parking lot wave is just a strong wave that gets good sometimes , and when the right corner is not working is the only option there. Food and facilities at Garopaba City.

Florianopolis, e uma cidade no litoral sul brasileiro, dividida em 2 partes, uma parte continental e uma parte insular.
A parte insular, e aonde se encontram as praias, as melhores do litoral sul brasileiro, quiça de todo o Brasil

Florianopolis, is a city located in the south brazilian shoreline, it´s divided in 2 parts a continental one and an island.
