Hotel Kontiki, Sao Francisco do sul: Kontiki - a pousada in the heritage area

Hotel Kontiki, is more like a Pousada (family run B&B) than a hotel, and made my stay in SF do Sul altogether memorable. I would give it my vote as THE Best place to stay in Sao Francisco do Sul. Here's why.....

Excellent Location :
It is located right by the waterfront. Excellent views of the street and the seas if you get one of the sea-facing rooms (I did!). Unfortunately, these rooms do not have aircon - but frankly this does not matter, since they have HUGE windows and a nice balcony.

AMENITIES:
Room charges are between 70 to 90 Reias per night, the buffet breakfast (included in the tariff) is excellent. Most importantly, the staff is EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND WARM. All rooms come with an a fridge, TV, huge ancient cupboards, and an en suite large shower.

THINGS TO DO:
Living in a heritage building (it figures in the SF do Sul anniversary book amongst all the heritage buildings in Centro) has it's own charm. The cobbled streets nearby are great places to just saunter about.

My only wishlist for Kontiki would be -
If only... there was internet in rooms (there is internet available at the reception for 2.5 R$ per hour)

If only...the sea facing rooms had air con.

Else, this is definitely THE PLACE to stay when in SF do Sul.

Excellent, courteous and homely staff.
Excellelent lcoation - right in the center of the heritage area, overlooking the sea

Pousada da Ilha: Stay at the beaches.

I would not recommend the hotels in the city centre, especially the Hotel Zibamba, which is way overpiced and has very bad vibes. I would instead stay at one of the beaches. Pousada da Ilha on Sambaquis is especially charming.
