Ilhabela Island, BrasilHike Through 7 Waterfalls
Ilhabela means "beautiful island" in Portuguese, and I wish we could have stayed longer. We met a local guide who offered to take on a day-long hike through some waterfalls. It was actually a series of 7 waterfalls that flowed steadily down until they reached the ocean. One waterfall is on a smooth rock that becomes a fun slide! Hiking back there is not for the faint of heart--there were many steep inclines, slippery rocks, and tricky drop-offs. It was amazingly beautiful and wild though! And we only saw one other person the entire day.
