Going to Sao Jose dos Campos for Business

by daymanishere

I will be in Sao Jose dos Campos for business and will be there for about one week. Due to my lack of Portuguese (I know a little Spanish) I don't necessarily want to travel to Sao Paulo too often for entertainment and sight seeing.

What is there for me to do in Sao Jose dos Campos in terms of sight seeing, entertainment, night life, etc.? How safe is the city?

There's probably no city, town or village in Brazil that lacks for some sort of nightlife, at least in the form of a few bars, and this is not the smallest of them. The smaller cities and rural areas are generally more tranquil than bigger cities in terms of safety.
Sightseeing is going to be fairly limited in town:
Augusto Ruschi Biological Reserve
Banhado
Burle Marx Municipal Park with the Olivo Gomes residence
CTA and MAB (Brazilian Aerospace Memorial)
Embraer
Espaço Mario Covas, former City Council space
National Institute for Space Research/INPE
Old Cathedral
Medieval Village
Municipal Market
Municipal Public Library (former Theatro São José)
Nossa Senhora Aparecida Chapel
São Francisco Xavier
São Benedito Church
Sanatorium Vicentina Aranha
Santos Dumont Park

Travel Tips for São Paulo

Paulista Avenue, Ibirapuera...

by azucca

Paulista Avenue, Ibirapuera Park, Anhangabau, MASP (picture), Trianon and Iguatemi Mall.
Beware of pickpockets! I was born and lived here for 24 years. What I miss the most about SP are the restaurants, good italian food, and nightlife.

Edificio Ramos de Azevedo

by marakaki

This fabulous building was projected by the famous architecte Ramos de Azevedo to expand São Paulo University activities in 1907, when electrical and mechanical engineering courses were created.

Actually its a museum and library about real state and São Paulo´s history. The building is still being restaured.

I like the art in windows and its construction classical style.

Its easy to reach by subway station Tiradentes.

São Paulo Tip

by Ramonq

Sao Paolo is teeming with nightclubs and pubs. Just a tip, when you get in, you are given a ticket which gets stamped whenever, you order drinks. DO NOT LOSE it, otherwise, you will pay the maximum amount!

Kitschy Brazilian Barbeque

by bearworm about Vento Haragano Churrascaria

Waiters dressed in 18th century German country attire serving Brazilian barbeque. There were over 20 cuts of fish, quail, lamb, pork and beef. Truly, a meat eater's festival. Each waiter served a different cut. Short ribs simply fell-off the skewer.

ANOTHER QUICKIE NIP TIP

by schurlif about RANGETSU OF TOKYO

Sounds almost as if I was making fun with the title of this tip.... but I'm not.... This place is so cool.... I'm almost positive sure this is a chain too..... They must have restaurants in Tokyo and other japanese cities and I went to eat at one ( besides this one here in São Paulo) in Orlando , FL..
They serve traditional and contemporary japanese food in an elegant setting and it is pure pleasure for japanese food lovers to discover what these "strange", unknown dishes are in the menu.....
The food is heavenly delicious , service first class , impeccable.....

When in São Paulo , just go..... Every bite I ever took there became my favorite dish......

So much for that.....
