With a reputation as São Paulo's best hotel, expectations of the Fasano Hotel run high, and my stay at this discreet hotel in Jardins was nothing short of perfect. The hotel building is a small stylish tower on one of the smallest streets in Jardins, ensuring peace and calm. Around the corner, though, are the city's most expensive boutiques of luxury fashion and objects. The hotel's rooms are elegant and very spacious, but feel more like an elegant studio apartment than a hotel room. Inaugurated in 2003, the hotel is owned by the Fasano family, who have been running the best Italian restaurants in Brazil for a century and who also opened the sister hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The street on which the hotel is located, rua Vittoria Fasano, was named after the family's ancestor, and the choice of location for the hotel was probably no coincidence. The hotel's restaurant, Fasano, is also considered the city's best Italian restaurant. Naturally, prices match the reputation. You decide if it's worth it.
This is the most luxurious and one of the most expensives hotels in the city. It was recently built in addition to a traditional italian restaurante, serving one of the best food in the city. Not for everyone.
Unique Quality: The building is fantastique and the restaurant is something really special, considered by The Economist magazine the "smartiest and priciest "in town. The room are equiped with flat TVs, DVD, light controled remotely and is finely decorated. A member of the Leading Hotels of the World.
Directions: The hotel is located in Jardins, a former residential neighborhood, nowadays a fancy commercial area.
As Brazil seems to be the home of great modernist architecture,
1)are there any architecturally interesting hotels in SP or ones designed by famous architects ie Neimeyer et al?
2)how about such hotels in Brasilia?
3)or in Curitiba?
You might take a look at this one Fasano Hotel E Restaurante
RUA VITTORIO FASANO 88 Sao Paulo, 01414-020 BR/ or the Emiliano. Neither designed by anyone famous that I know of but intereting,
Hotel Unique has a modern architecture and a very good location (near Ibirapuera Park and Paulista Avenue). It is one of the best in São Paulo and consequently one of the most expensive.
I must disagree with you a bit. Fasano Hotel was designed by Isay Weinfeld, who is celebrated as one of Brazil's finest contemporary architects. Emiliano Hotel is famous, yes, and chic, but better look/stay at Unique Hotel, designed by Ruy Ohtake. Also, Niemeyer designed Hotel Tijuco, in Diamantina (Minas Gerais). I stayed there several years ago. The facilities were a bit rundown, but the views were superb, and the room pleasantly surprising, design-wise! Cheers!
