São Paulo's Blossoming Trees
by MM212
Despite being an ocean of concrete, São Paulo is filled with majestic trees and large green spaces. Many of its streets, particularly in the Jardins district, are lined with trees. When I visited in early January, São Paulo was abundant with tropical trees blossoming with flowers of various colours. Attached are photos showing examples of such trees. I wish I knew the names...
THE SECOND WORLD'S BIGGEST BASILICA
by RafaelTheSecond
It is not in the city of São Paulo, it is part of the State, 3 hours going south close to the states limits between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It was made in the 70s, and today it is the most important catholici pilgrimage center in Brazil.
I am catholic as everybody knows, and everytime I go to São paulo by car, I stop there to attend the Mess and ask god to bless every trip I take!
BASILICA NOSSA SENHORA DE APARECIDA
The Image of the Holy Mother was found in Paraiba River, and when the fishermen found the image, the River suddenly gave millions of fish to the fishermen's web, since that miracle many years ago, the city of Aparecida became our catholic Mecca.

Metro
by CactusJim
São Paulo has the best metro in Brazil. For 1.40 reis you can go from one side of the city to the other. There are stops everywhere, from the airport, the bus station, and all points of interest. If you but the multi-pass the price is even cheaper. I never had any problem on the metro either, but it is probably a good idea to leave your expensive jewelry at home, but that is good advice all over Brazil.
Healthier fast food choice
by Elainehead about Bon Grille
Their specialty is grilled meat (grelhados) but you will be able to order salads, pasta and other stuff. Check their their website (click on "Nosso pratos").
I usually go for one of their set-meals: 1 grilled meat + 3 side dishes (acompanhamentos). I often choose picanha, white rice, salada primavera and either polenta frita (fried polenta) or feijão.
My husband always orders: 1 grilled meat + pasta (penne au pesto for him).
The Town Market place
by elp
The "Big Market" from 1933, it sells delicious goods from Brasil and all the world.
Also a beautiful place with stained glasses with themes about agriculture like the crops of coffe and other geometrics figures. Also an interesting place to have a good snack, like an wounderfull big cod pie.
Sunday afternoon in the Old Center of the city and in the "Big Market" (Mercadão) can be very amusing.
