São Paulo's Mosaic Pavements
by MM212
In keeping with Portuguese and Brazilian traditions, many of São Paulo's pavements are covered in black and white mosaics with various repetitive designs. Although not quite as spectacular as Copacabana and Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo's designs are nevertheless beautiful and add a touch of art to the streets of the metropolis. Attached are three examples of such designs.

If you manage to visit before June 2nd, 2002, you must see the Bienal. In it's 25th year, it is the oldest in the World after Venice's.
To the uninitiated, certain cities around the World hold these festivals of contemporary art, generally loosely organized around a central theme. The theme of this year's São Paulo Bienal is 'Metropolitan Iconography'
Get there and see it. More info at: http://bienalsaopaulo.terra.com.br/
If you can't manage it, I'll see you at Documenta XI in Kassel, Germany! http://www.documenta.de/documenta_gruen.html

You don't want to leave this place
by Freiner about fillipa
Filipa from outside is not telling much and you would probably miss it in passing by. Once inside you realise after some time how much thought was spent on every detail: Light, colors, the 2 level bar, the chairs, the art -
the food obviously is matching this genuine search for quality and hospitality. They prepare food combinations you probably have never heard or imagined before. They also have a in-house bakery, which is preparing Italian style fresh bread !
You most likely will have to make a reservation on the weekends. The Rio Style Shrimps with rice and fruits. And the "sopremesa" mango.
I tried a Caipirinha with Lychees and Sake for the first time in this restauant.
Santa Gula
by renataa about Santa Gula
Everything in the restaurant is for sale: the dishes, the furniture, accessories ... It looks like an antique shop and the tables are candlelit. Very romantic with great food. It's better to reserve.
