Where were you looking? This lists Avis, Budget, Hertz, Interlocadora, Localiza and Unidas: http://www.worldairportguide.com/airport/414/airport_guide/South-America/S%E3o-Paulo-Guarulhos-International-Airport.html
And those are not the only ones:

there are many car rentals inside the airport already.....you won´t need to get to the city to rent a car...

There are plenty in the airport itself, but unless you're VERY familiar with Sao Paulo I wouldn't dare to drive a car there, you'll certainly get lost and worst if you don't know the language

Travel Tips for São Paulo

Learn Portugese before you go...

by GypsyCanuck

Learn Portugese before you go (or at least as much as you can). Most Brazilians seem to understand at least some Spanish (forget English). Great place to learn another language and get to know truely nice people.

The most controversial store in São Paulo

by Lady_Disdain about Daslu

The ultra exclusive Daslu is probably the most controversial store in São Paulo - decadent luxury shop (everything from Armani to Ferrari), an absurd example of the income gap, involved in fradualant imports, family differences - it has all the elements of a soap opera.

Daslu was founded by three frineds in a small house. The luxury goods were so succesful that the store expanded into the neighbouring houses. At one point, it spread out over 23 houses, in a warren of rooms and corridors. It has recently moved to a new store, that looks like a bunker from the outside but is decorated in marble and gold guild.

The store is famous for hiring young society girls and the daughters of traditional families as salesgirls (or daslusetes), who maintain very close relations with clients (to the point of sending dresses on approval for a specific party - sometimes before the client even knows about the events!).

The store has its own conduct code - entry requires an ivitation (obtainable in their websites), a client has their own salesgirl (and a new client may not be approach by any of them until a receptionist makes the introduction!), no men are allowed (except in the men's clithing and car sections) and there are no dressing rooms - you just ask for what you need and try it on in front of the nearest mirror. All the main high end, luxury labels. A lot! An obscene amount of money!

Use airplanes!
Travel by companies such as TAM, Varig, Vasp, etc
Don't rent cars, traffic is terrible and, unless you have a native to drive you around you will get probably get lost(streets and avenues don't follow a pattern like New York)
Use the subway, taxis and buses.

A tradition In Sao Paulo!

by xuxaBR about Famiglia Mancini (Italian)

To describe this restaurant isn’t easy…I’ve known Famiglia Mancini for long time and the experience is always the same: great!
It’s a family tradition to the Paulistanos to go to Famiglia Mancini on weekends…or any other day!
The food is excellent! From pastas to pizzas, the salad buffet with huge heart of palms that I love so much, the selection of Italian wine, the service, all is done to perfection!
To know what I’m trying to describe is only living the experience.... go there and enjoy I love it all...lasagna, fettuccini...everything; but what I love the most is the salad buffet for its variety and delicious heart of palms...

Try it...

LIBERDADE

by RudoElCojonudo

Liberdade is the Japaneese neightborhood in Sao Paolu, yes I´ve said Japaneese and not Chineese. Many Japaneese people came to Brazil after the 2WW, and many of them stablished in Sao Paulo.
It´s a nice place to visit, it´s like a little part of Japan in the huge Brazil. The shops, the restaurants, the people, everything reminds Asia here.
There is a market next to Liberdade metro entrance on sunday mornings where you can taste japaneese food in a good prize or buy asian handmade souvenirs.
