A hot day in Brazil
by benazer
Come live a day in Brazil with me... A bright sunny sunday here in Brazil,
ten thousand Brazilians driving to the seaside,a thousand will sit in a shade drinking a cold drink, hundreeds of mobile phones will ring, buses fills up so does restaurants fills and empties again and again, planes takes off from the city airport, dogs rests in the deep shade of the Brazilian trees, temperatures are still climbing rapidly,I walk in the shaded side of the street.
a hundreed thousand girls take showers and put on their summer dresses and makeups,do their hairs prettily and go out , a hundreed thousand and more boys look on wishfully , the temperature is reading at 29 degrees centigrade and climbing,I walk in a cafe and order a suco (drink) any drink as long as it is cold.
Now the temperature is reading 30C, buses growls past full of happy people, the Ibirapuera park is also full of Brazilians, some jogging some pretending to jog and some are just watching each other,I sit at a deep shade of a mango tree, the temperature is reading 31C...
A thousand Brazilians light their cigarettes.
Ten thousand brazilians sip their Guaranas.
Another thousand order a pastel carne(meat pastie)
I join in after all I concider myself a Brazilian by now.
VIEWS YOU WILL PROBABLY DON'T PAY ATTETION
by janaina
Visiting a megacity as Sao Paulo will probably make you cross the streets in an automatically way, running to your business meeting(usually tourism in Sao Paulo are business trips),or even if you plann to visit places like the Municipal Theater or the historical "Patio Do Colegio"(the city was founded by the "jesuits"priests as a mission center, today called "patio do colegio"),I'm not sure how much you'll pay attetion to the small details on the facades or ornamentations,so,to make your life easier, here I show some architectonic aspects of these sites..
Besides,I'll add some shoots from downtown.
One here(patio do colegio),more in my travelogue!
How the other 2.3% travels here!

Another truism from the guidebooks and travel magazines: traffic in Sao Paulo is so congested and stifling, that many businesspeople get to and from their meetings around town by helicopter! What a hoot, eh? But we had this helipad virtually right outside our balcony and saw it used quite often in the week I was there. Even when the whirlybirds weren't landing and taking off in front of our eyes, the chop-chop-chop of their whirring blades could be heard at all hours of the day. Not a nuisance at all, it just added to the big-city thrill of it all!
A decent option in São Bento
by MM212 about Café Girondino
Café Girondino is perhaps the only decent dining option in the São Bento area. It is located on Largo São Bento, across from the Basilica, and is a great place to stop for coffee and a snack, or for lunch. The café has old world charm and the service is efficient. While the food looked good, I only stopped here for coffee and some pastry.
The Tallest Building
by Sharrie
I did Sao Paolo city tour all in an afternoon. Although it looks very impressive from the air, it's not so from the land.
As with any other cities in the world, it has the tallest building. But here, (& I hardly say this in my travels), is a city which is full of people but when it comes to architectural delights, it falls far far behind the rest of the world. It's like visiting "ruins"... only these are still in use & people still live in them. Even in photos, they appear so much nicer.
All I can say is, here I see concrete... not architecture. :-(
