My best friend recently moved to Sao Paulo and I wanted to go there for vacation sometime. I was wondering how much it would cost to go there. If someone has any idea please let me know.
sometime 'when' during the year? it does make a big diffence, i.e. New's year eve and Carnival are the most expensive weeks.
This isn't an easy question to answer, because airline fares are really crazy. The time of year, the day of the week, how far ahead you buy the ticket, and amount of time spent at the destination all make a huge difference.
Thankfully Sao Paulo has a lot of different air services to it, so competition is reasonably good, and therefore air fare shouldn't be too bad.
For a basic idea of price, try going to Orbitz.com (a web site jointly operated by a few airline companies) and put in some dates. Just on that web site alone, you can come up with flights ranging from $700 to $1,300 or so. It really depends on your flexibility and willingness to buy the tickets ahead of time.
and FYI, Sao Paulo is IN America ! .......South America.

Itamambuca ( beautiful stone in Tupi language) is not really close to Sao Paulo - Around 3 hours driving .. 280 kms north of the city. But it is definately worth the trip...
The beach is north of Ubatuba city, Sao Paulo state. Nestled between huge green mountains and 2 kms of white sand and clear blue water, Itamambuca has few wonderful houses and some small, simple Inns.
Itamambuca is known for its excelent waves and it is THE places for many Brazilian and International surfing championships.
How to get there? You need to go by car/taxi... Take the Carvalho Pinto highway until Dutra. Keep on driving for 6 kms on Dutra highway and take the " Taubate" entrance. After Tauba there will be signs to guide you until Ubatuba. From Ubatuba, just 15 more kms and there you are!
If you need to connect from the main Metro to the southern lines use ORCA. It is a free shuttle.
REMEMBER: get free ticket before leaving station.
Click Here see more info on ORCA (with map)
The ORCA Shuttle gives you the following advantages:
The service is free of charge.
Transportation is provided by comfortable vans running between the following stations:
Barra Funda (Line 3, CPTM Lines A-B-D-E)
Vila Madalena (Line 2)
Cidade Universitária (Line 7 old CPTM Line C)
One of the most traditional meals in Brazil is feijoada. It is made of black beans with different kinds of meat such as ribs, pork, sausage, dried beef, and bacon. It is served with rice and collard greens prepared with olive oil, orange, and fanofa, which is made of garlic, onion, butter, eggs, and manioc (a special flour).
This dish is usually served at lunchtime because it is a little heavy and you need time to digest it (I needed about a day!), even if you eat the orange to help your digestion. Feijoada originated from the leftovers that upper class people in the past left for their slaves, but it has become sophisticated. It is a delicious dish, and if you visit Brazil, I recommend that you try it.
Taste Native and Imported Fruits, Cheese Variety and the famous Sanduíche de Mortadela (Sausage Sandwich) and Pastel de Bacalhau (kind of pasty with fish filling).
Restaured in 2004, Mercadão has bars and restaurants offering international food (actually is part our brazilian culture yet) as italian, japanese, arabian, etc.
Also, you can see charmy architecture from 20's and beautiful art in windows.
