Travel guide? A person or a book? People are usually called tour guides in English. A travel guide is a book. Doesn't Sao Paulo have a guides' union like Rio does? (http://sindegtur.org.br/2006/index.asp) And with so few tourists, S.P. must have correspondingly few guides. Excuse my curiosity,, but are you trying to become one? Are you about to sell some service here? Why would someone who lives in S.P. need a guide?
Travel Tips for São Paulo
go crazy at a punk rock show!...
by miromi
go crazy at a punk rock show! SP has a big underground punk, hardcore, rockabilly, wild dancing green haired girl scene. People who live there can probably explain it a lot better than I. Dominatrix, led by a green haired vegan angel! I interviewed them along with my friend Tom, and I'll put up a link for it if I can find the tapes.

by mmanchack
Campos Do Jordao is a city outside of Sao Paulo, located high in the Serra da Mantiqueira mountains, which run from near Amparo (northeast of São Paulo city) all the way through southern Minas Gerais state, Eastern São Paulo state and through Northern Rio de Janeiro state. It is a city where German immigrants relocated after WWII and have left a great impact on the architecture and life there. It’s a wonderful little place to visit and has wonderful restaurants, shops, and bed and breakfasts. I personally visited the most wonderful chocolate shop, full of Bavarian style goodies. It was hard to believe that I was in the Brazilian countryside… but lots of fun!

Most of the international airlines have a 'pit stop' in Sao Paulo, before going to Rio de Janeiro. I would consider a 'stop over' if possible with your ticket. But you need at least 3 - 4 days to explore the city. Driving from Rio (which I did) takes about 4 - 4,5 ours. The roads are great, but there is a lot of traffic.
You have the Metro. Otherwise; why dont rent a car? The signs and the roads make it surprisengly easy to find your way (if you know where you going...). See my Rio pages for more info about car rental.
EATING GOOD IN SAMPA
by RafaelTheSecond about CANTINA LAZZARELLA
I have heard many italians saying that PASTA in São Paulo are way better than the pastas in ITALIA! and I think it is true. I know the city a lot and I can easily say that in a neighborhood called Bexiga, there are many TRADITIONAL CANTINAS there and it is hard to say each one is the best...but I would recommend CANTINA LAZZARELLA...We had a lovely time there for lunch!!!
But you can go to Bexiga day and night! Their LASAGNA ARE SIMPLE A REAL ORGASM!!!
Going out at night from Thursday to Sunday!

São Paulo without any doubts has the best nightlife in the whole wide WORLD! I´m dead serious about this. Especially for those who love electronic music. Brazil is one of the world´s top producers of e-music. But anyway, the city has incredibly hi-tech and modern clubs, awesome bars, and afterhour parties which last until 12pm the next day. Huge avenues like Faria Lima in the Itaim district get crowded with cars at dawn, with people heading for their night fun... and the flirting starts right there... when everyone´s stopped at the traffic lights! It´s AWESOME.
But, if you prefer a night out for dinner, remember, Sao Paulo is a reference in gastronomy... you´ll find excellent restaurants. If you like theaters, or if you´re a mall rat... you´re in the right spot!
