Here is a link for the restaurant Samurai http://www.baladas.com.br/guia/estab.asp?i=2481&t=6

It is an inexpensive restaurant so I would not worry about dressing formally to dine there. Very Brazilian casual dress. Reservations are always a good idea.

Travel Tips for São Paulo

Kiss and Drink

by LoucoSP

In Brazil its commom people kiss the face each other when introduce yourself, but only man with woman or woman kiss another woman. Girls be prepare at pub because guys will ask you a kiss(not kiss in the face).
Boys always start conversation with girl when he try date.
the minimum age to drink its 18.
Young people like to go out 11:00 PM to dance or have fun time!
Try to drink caipirinha, Tradicional Brazilian drink , but careful if you drink a lot you can get high.

Brazilian Culture in One Place

by mircaskirca about Livraria Cultura

Livraria Cultura is best place to buy books and Brazilian culture in general. Apart from distribution, they try to unite people from different cultural and art spheres. There is an auditorium where regularly happen concerts of jazz and popular brazilian music, presentations and discussions.

With other shops in Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre, Recife and Brasilia they maintain a model with same concept: spot of entertainment where visitors not only buy but also debate and exchange ideas, meet others with same interest and have a good time.

Besides, they also offer their service by internet to virtual clients all around the world. nacional and imported books, CDs, DVDs and magazines

From Guarulhos to the city

by Lady_Disdain

You've landed in São Paulo. Now you need to get to São Paulo - the airport is around 25kms away from the city center, in heavy traffic.

Taking a taxi is expensive - if you negociate with the driver beforehand, it is around R$ 75. If you pay by the meter, R$100. If you are unsure, take a prepaid cab from the booths (blue or green). There are lots of hawkers for taxis in the airport - if you are an obvious tourist, you run the risk of paying way too much.

You can also take the "Airport Service" shuttle buses. There are several different lines: Eldorado Shopping Center, to the main hotels, to certain city areas, etc.. The price is R$24 per person (around US$12).

Finally, if you are travelling with little luggage and a tight budget, you can take the shuttle to the nearest metro station (Tatuape) for only R$3 (US$1,5). This is on the blue line - but don't worry, there are maps on the station showing how the different lines connect.

Rodizio

by Pierre_Rouss about Alpha grill

“all-you-can-eat” restaurants, where waiters shuttle around the tables, serving different cuts of meat, caipirinha and coconut milk carts, nice buffets. Both light and normal rodizio!!
Like eating half a ton of food can be considered "light". Everything!
Was surprised to find sushi, remembered later there are lots of Japenese in Brazil.
Feijoada, rice, beans and dry meat.

Mosteiro de São Bento

by marakaki

This place is special to me because I live very close and I have studied at São Bento elementary school which is just beside the church.

Its detailled architecture is gorgeous and when they decorate for weddings, its beautiful.

A nice thing to do is listen to the gregorian mass (Saturdays 6AM and Sundays 10AM) and then buy a delicious manioc bread or special cakes prepared by the monks.
