MARQUISE DE SANTOS HOUSE
by janaina
This incredible house(in & out!!),has its built date unknown, but, according to the architecture style some believes it remains from the XVIII's.
In 1834,Dona Marilia Domitilia De Castro Canto e Mello,Marquise De Santos, bought the house, and it became the most aristocratic residence in the city!
The story of this marquise is full of scandals and tragedies:her first husband, with whom she had 2 children, wounded her almost to death after a terrible argue, even she was pregnant at that time(she gave birth to the child, but he died after a short time):after that, she became the mistress of the Brazilian Emperor,Dom Pedro II,with whom she had 5 children,3 died young:as the Emperor needed a second wife, after the first died, and the fact he had a mistress disturbed the Court, they finished the relationship.
Than she married again, and had more 4 children. She was a beautiful, rich, elegant woman, and her house was a scenery for famous mask balls and intelectual meetings.
Getting around Sao Paulo is...
by bichara
Getting around Sao Paulo is easy! Get the metro and you won't be disappointed. Just make sure you prepare to face the buzz of one of the most modern and hectic major cities in the world. Avenida Paulista, picture on the left, is an example of how this city never stops!
Delicious Coffee in the Old Downtown
by marakaki about Cafe Girondino (Coffee and Bar)
Its a Nice Place with Antique Decoration and Pictures from Sao Paulo.
Service is Excelent, you can share a Creamy Soup if you´re not so hungry in the Winter.
Cafe Girondino can be a Breakfast Starting to a Walkaway in the Downtown or an After Hour Break for a Beer. Drink a Coffee or a Hot Chocolate. Taste the Sandwiches or Dishes and don´t miss the Sweet Pies. My Favorites are Banana or Apple, both with Cinamon.
During the Night its more like a Bar Atmosphre: Try the Beer Draft, Drinks and Appetizers as Pastel (Pastry Pies), Bolinho de Mandioca (Manioc Pies) or the Crunchy Parmezan Bruschetta!
Admire the VIEW!!!

In a city of this size, it is easy to feel like a speck among millions. But having this 20th-floor apt was such a boon...the air at this level was fresh and breezy, making our balcony a perfect place to just hang and watch the hills of Paulista towards the north...
