Panela de Ferro: Nice Pousada - One of the Very Few in Jalapão

During our two days tour to Jalapão we stayed for the night in Panela de Ferro (Iron Ladle), the only pousada in Mateiros and one of the very few in the whole Jalapão (another one is Planalto in Ponte Alta, the entrance to the park). It is owned by a couple from São Paulo, Josinete and José Roberto, who are in the area for many years.

Panela de Ferro is a new place, opened only in 2006, and can accommodate 26 people. It has nine rooms with a bathroom en suite, air-conditioning and TV, beds with good quality mattresses, and first-class bedclothes and towels. All the comfort, safety and fondness are given to guests.

Unique Quality: Excellent self-service breakfast is included in the price of accommodation: freshly baked bread and cake, butter, cheese and ham, egg, variety of local fruits, fresh juices, coffee and milk.

The staff is very nice and friendly. They prepared and wrapped some sandwiches and pieces of cake to take with us, and we were free to take water, fruit and the remain of juice. This came quite handy as in the area there are no shops and restaurants around.
