Considering the Ana Cassia in Manaus?

    Amazon Jungle Trip by JaydenP
During my tour of South America i did a 3 night jungle trip which was an unforgettable experience. After a 3 hour coach ride from the city of Manaus, we walked down a dirt path and jumped in a small speed speed boat in the Amazon River. 50minutes later we reached our jungle lodge, in the thick of the Amazon, the lodge was only accessible by boat/canoe. At the lodge there were English speaking guides who looked after us for the duration of our stay. The first day we went Piranha fishing which proved to be alot more difficult than i though it would be! Our guide Ricardo caught 2 so it wasnt a completely fruitless afternoon on the river! After dinner -which consisted of spaghetti, rice, chicken, salad, eggs and fruit we went out caymen spotting. Unfortunately we didnt see any - apparantly something to do with a full moon (?).On the 2nd day we woke up early at 5am and went to watch the sunrise over the Amazon which was beautiful. At roughly 11am that day we trekked for 4 hours in 40degrees into thick jungle which is where we spent the 2nd nite. On the way we saw Jaguar footprints which was quite unnerving!! Making your own cutlery out of wood and leaves is good fun and there was a natural spring to drink from and get a shower which was like heaven after the trek. We were never far from the odd tarantula and other insects but we didnt get into any trouble as far as bites go.The next day we trekked back to the lodge -and we finally got there after sinking our canoe in the piranha infested waters!!! We made blowpipes on the last day back at the lodge as a souvenir. There are other groups of travellers there aswell so you get to meet alot of people from around the world. These trips are widely available from lots of tour operators as soon as you get to Manaus. Pre-booking, i doubt is neccessary as there are so many operators. The cost of our expedition was 100reals per day (£20.00) - which i was doubting the value of during the 4 hour trek (optional) but it was absolutely amazing!! A must if your travelling Brazil.
