A friend and I stayed at Ariau Amazon Towers in November 2011 and had the most amazing time! By far, this hotel property and the Amazon exceeded my expectations in terms of service, activities, comfort, food, and knowledge.
I bought my stay as a 3 night, 4 day package including hotel accommodations, meals, guide, and activities. The activities include visiting two different Amazon villages, caiman hunting, piranha fishing, Meeting of the Waters, and jungle trekking. A must-do extra is swimming with the pink dolphins--total bragging rights!
The property is comprised of towers connected by raised wooden walkways. The entire property is made of wood (Keep in mind when walking in the rooms. You can hear everything!), but is very well maintained. Rooms are spacious with very large bathrooms and balconies. Rooms are decorated in funky Amazon art and equipped with air conditioning. Hot water flows from the shower head. The restaurant serve three buffet-style meals full of international dishes and local favorites. Try the cupuacu pudding, coconut flan, or baked cinnamon bananas with coconut milk!
There are cute curious monkeys everywhere! Be careful if you have food on you when you walk by them. They know. Don't leave your drink unattended either. They will drink it. Cheeky monkeys!

A very special hotel which is located just in the Amazon. The room is quite spacious with small fridge and bathroom. But there is no TV or phone (you would not need TV when you are so close to the nature). Staff there is nice and the food is delicious. Oh, you will also see lots of monkeys around.

Imagine yourself living in a hotel with modern conveniences ... air conditioning, card-swipe doors, running water, clean sheets .... except, you are surrounded by the rain forest on all sides. The hotel is divided into different satellite buildings .... all of them built of wood and resting on stilts. Each of those buildings is connected to the main building and each other by wooden bridges. Ariau is so big, you need a map you walk all over the place ... and at each turn is a surprise.
The trip to get to Ariau itself is pretty cool. You have to go to Ponta Negra, and catch a boat to the hotel. Ariau is like a village on the river ... complete with a small store, phones, and meditation rooms. Walk by screaming macacas and screaching monkeys, while enjoying the vast expanse of the river. The food is fresh and delicious. There are different activities on the hotel : boat rides to the archipelagos, night-time boat rides on the river, piranha-fishing, etc.
Unique Quality: Great view, unique ambience, very comfortable, great customer service.

My (now) husband and I stayed at this resort for three months while filming a television show. An hour by boat out of Manaus, we were really separated from civilization! I'd advise only spending a week or so there. Our crew was a third Brazillian and the rest internationals. It was really an experience to live with the Brazillian contingent! Production paid for accomodation costs, so sorry no help on that.
Unique Quality: The resort has a cheesy charm all it's own. There are monkeys that run free, parrots that fly around, weird artwork with pink dolphins and huge bugs and pirannahs (not charming)! Something very amazing to witness while there for the three months was the rise and fall of the Rio Negro. In the beginning we were disembarking from the boat at the lobby area and at the end we were trecking in from far out, mid river! This place is really hokey with the small chapel, UFO landing site and a meditation pyramid! All in all, it's a very rustic place that would be fun for families. It sure was an interesting place to meet my future husband!

Who needs more?A hotel,and a perfect jungle experience!
To call " TOWER "to a hotel located in the Amazon jungle sounds funny,but the place is amazing!
It has all the 5 stars facilities but built as you are the real " jungle explorer ".
Unique Quality: The hotel has suites what don't stay behind any city hotel,pools,magnific jungle trips,by boat or walks,restaurants.
The rooms are built on stilts at 3 top levels.
It's located at the biggest sweet water archipelago in the world ( ANAVILHANAS ).

nice but expensive. close to the docks where you catch boats to more distant villages on the amazon river. Best village is Ariau towers. Ariau towers is full of monkeys and macaws. Rooms have air cond. they are rustic in style but very confortable. Foods were home cooked style from the region and quite good.
Book the trip with a brazilian agency in Rio because from abroad they charge you inflated prices sometimes 3 times as much!
This is a hotel about 3 1/2 hours down the Amazon river from Manaus. You can book it with any travel agent knowledgeable with Brazil. A travel agent in Brazil will get you cheaper than one that is abroad...(one more middle person to pay...) Its a lodge on top of a forest canope, with little catwalks between buildings.
There are monkeys and macaws who are always there waiting to get some handouts from the tourists.
They take you on several tours to see the region.
They have rooms with a/c which you will need as its really hot! and humid!
There is also a restaurant and a tiny beach in the back side. They offer some shows at night.

If you got the dough, i would say go for the Tarzan tree-house. There are a few of those houses located in large trees on the resort. They seem wonderful.
About the towers, they are interconnected and i had no idea that you could choose your tower to stay in.
I can´t remember the name of the tower i stayed in, but i liked more the environment, the location and all the walks on those wooden bridges and the excursions then that i was interested in my room. Which btw was nice. The matress was a little too fluffy for my liking.
