We chose this hotel for its good location in the city centre, and because the Lonely Planet guidebook gave it a fair write-up. We were only here for one night and it was fine – the standard Best Western level of facilities, a comfortable bed and reasonable buffet breakfast. According to the website the rooms have been recently upgraded and all have TV, radio, mini-bar and air-conditioning – the latter in my view is essential in this tropical climate. The average price for a double room is currently US$80, including a full buffet breakfast. The hotel has a small bar, a restaurant (serving Italian food – we didn’t eat here apart from breakfast), a laundry service and car rental desk. It would make a reasonable mid-budget choice for a slightly longer stay than ours, but lacks character and I think if I were staying longer I would hunt for somewhere that felt a bit more in tune with the atmosphere of the city.
The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Manaus’ main attraction, the famous Opera House, and within easy walking distance of several restaurants and shops. We also found a good ice cream parlour nearby, where I had an excellent caipirinha flavour ice – highly recommended if you come across one! Also nearby is a small square, the Praça Heliodoro Balbi, which we found great for-people watching. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 55926222844
