Amazon day tours
by seb95667
We ended up making a reservation with Amazon Riders. I sent them an email telling them what time our ship was arriving and what we wanted to see and what we didn't want to see. They came back with going to the Janahuaca Reserve, exploring some lakes, going fishing for piranas, watching dolphins, exploring monkey island with a walk, seeing the water lilies lake, visiting ipixuana indigenous floating house, watching the sunset, and then doing some night alligator spotting. includes mineral water, 15 diferent regional dishes (5 stars) buffet and a guide. Private tour for the two of us is $R160 pp. He came back to confirm our reservation, no deposit required and said if we can add more people, the price per person could drop. It will probably be about 8 hour tour.

I‘ve visited Tabatinga during the 80s. Tabatinga's original market, featured in these images, has been demolished and replaced by a more functional concrete building. Goods for sale include fruits and nuts, fish, vegetables, rice, sugar and a host of general goods such as fishing gear, spare parts for marine engines, clothing and household goods.
Thumbs Up! Speak Portuguese
by SumTingWong
Many people in Manaus only speak Portuguese so the international symbol here is the thumbs up - meaning good or cool. However, the thumbs up is hard if you can't speak with the people. So here are some important Portuguese phrases and pronunciations(contact me if you need to say anything else or translate anything):
Hello : Oi / Ola (oee / ohla)
How's it going : Como vai? (coh-moh bay?)
Everythings well : Tudo bem (toodoh bayn)
Thank you : Obrigado (Oh-bree-gah-ju)
No thank you : Nao obrigado (nao oh-bree-gah-ju)
Bye : Tchau (chaw)
Good/Well : Bom/Bem (bohn/bayn)
Where is...? : Onde e`....? (ohnjay ay...?)
How much does it cost? : Quanto costo? (cuan-tu cohs-toh?)
Can you write it? : Voce pode escrever-o? (boh-se poh-je es-cray-ber-oh?)
I can't speak Portuguese. : Nao posso falar o portugues. (nao poh-ssoh fah-lar oh por-tu-geash.)
Can you speak English? : Voce pode falar ingles? (boh-se poh-je fah-lar een-glaysh?)
Packing List
by catarata
For the jungle,, the best way to carry your luggage is of course a big satchel. In the jungle: Comfortable clothes, cotton best, and swimming clothes, sunglasses, cap, and soap to wash clothes, if you find it necessary.
Mosquito net is not really necesary. Though they are quite big, there are not so many (in the Black River. If you go to Solimooes it could be different). For the jungle: Towel, insects repelent, sun protector. It´s of course imposible to buy films in the jungle, so that you´d better take as many as you can before. Not recommended in the jungle, because of the snakes and animals in general.
waaay beyond Pizza Hut!!
by morgane1692 about Loppiano Pizzaria
great, casual atmosphere...families, couples, groups of friends...all eating their pizza in harmony! what a world! BONUS: get a table inside where there's blessed A/C!!! pizza margherita and pizza champignon. both very nice, although everything else on the menu looked quite yummy, too.
