Nightlife of the city
I’m visiting this great city in June 08 (less than three weeks away), can you someone please shed some light in all the happenings in the city especially the nightlife. I am also hoping to get some well earned rest, can one suggest a nice place within the city where one can relax without experiencing any hassles.
My stay is 10 days and I am hoping not to experience any dull moment.

I am sending some links concerned in Fortaleza's nighlife:
I believe the most apreciated beachs for resting are: Praia do Futuro, and, Beach Park. The most crowded beachs shall be Iracema and Mucuripe.
During the last days of July there's a very apreciated pop party in Fortaleza.
On Mondays you may not go through to the club "Forró do Pirata". There you may know some regional brazilian dances.
Re: Nightlife of the city
It also depends on the kind of place you wanna go. Nightclubs, restaurants, bars...? And what kind of people do you expect to see there? Locals, tourists...? Do you wanna hear "international" or local music...?
Travel Tips for Fortaleza
The city is a bit abandoned,...
The city is a bit abandoned, and the beaches along the coast are polluted. Praia do Futuro, however, is very beautiful and nice to spend some time on. The coolest places I visited were outside Fortaleza and the bus trips were endless! Something I really miss when I remember my trip is the good weather and the beautiful view from my hotel room.
Go to the city centre on a week day
It's where you see real local people working or just running around in a rush. And it's all very lively. Men singing "cordel" songs is the most interesting thing to see there. Where they come up with sentences out of nowhere and at the moment they're singing. Check Praça do Ferreira (Ferreira Square) and look for São Luis cinema theatre. It's the oldest cinema place here and it's massive. And don't forget to try out sugar cane juice with the famous Pastel. You'll fall in love! :)
Portugese Center by night
The Portuguese center is really a circle and it is located just in front of Shopping Aldeota. They light it up at night and it is very nice looking. During the Christmastime months they construct a huge Christmas tree of lights and light it up.
For a calm night out head there and then stop by Monmartte for a sandwich and then some shopping at Aldeota. None
Fish and sea food (I tried...
Fish and sea food (I tried squid, it's great) are their main specialty...As I am not a big fan of those, I can't really recommend a restaurant...Try their crab, I heard it's fantastic! But pick a known restaurant, since you can easily get food intoxication from sea food (oysters mainly).
Fun in the dunes..
At Canoa Quebrada beach, about 160 km from Fortaleza, there are huge dune formations (up to 45 m high) where one can take rides in dunebuggies that stop at various places for fun and refreshments, like here sliding into a cool lake sitting on a simple seat suspended from a cable.
Another way is to slide down the steep hot, soft sand on a simple wooden board, similar to a small surfboard called "Esqui-bunda"
