Kitesurfing in Prea
by mircaskirca
Prea is one of the best spots in the world for kitesurfing. It is located 10 km east of Jericoacoara. The region is known for its tropical warm waters and consistent side onshore winds, onshore currents and wind speed from 15 to 30 knots year round. The biggest waves reach 2 meters and there are miles and miles of empty beaches without obstacles, rocks or dangerous objects for safe kiting conditions.
There are a couple of kite schools in Prea and Jeri that offer professional lessons focused on your specific needs, from beginners to advanced.

Walk to the Arched Rock
by bsfreeloader
Apart from Sunset dune, perhaps the most famous attraction in Jericoacoara is the Arched Rock, a large gate of stone sculpted by the waves, situated to the east of the village. The Arched Rock is part of a rocky area that stretches for over 2 km of coast to the east of Malhada Beach. In addition to the Arched Rock, there is an infinity of other rocks with curious shapes, as well as caves and natural pools. The hike through the rocky region is not to be missed, but you must go at low tide. If you are lucky enough to be in Jericoacoara in July or August, you can even watch the sunrise through the Arched Rock.
The Village of Jericoacoara
by mircaskirca
The village consists of five sandy streets lined with attractive bars, restaurants and several charming pousadas. In the early morning and at the end of the afternoon, the streets of Jeri are busy. It's time of day that inhabitants and visitors take advantage of the sun's weaker rays to go shopping or walk around. The rest of the day it's better for most to find some shady tree or a veranda. In the nighttime forro music invades the streets of Jeri. In the first hours of the morning, fishermen prepare to go out to sea and eventually run into the party goers who were at the forro.
Around 2000 people living in Jeri. The pace of living is slow and patiente and one is never too busy for a conversation with the neighbour. You'll find some of the friendliest and most laid-back people in the world :)
When Jericoacoara obtained electricity only a few short years ago, everyone thought it was on its way out. Modern civilization had arrived to destroy the unspoiled feeling of the place. Surprisingly, Jeri remains a tropical paradise :))
Espetinhos: meat in a stick
by sabrina_florida
When the sun starts to go down, this lovely lady will arrive at the end of the main street and beginning of the beach to fill the breeze with the smell of the grilled espetinhos: shrimp, beef, chicken or cheese.
One hour later, this area is filled with cocktail vendors who stay there until almost sunrise.
