Pousada Mendonça: A little gem in Santo Amaro
This little pousada was a real gem we found in Santo Amaro. Very simple, but with all you need in such an amazing place as this. The room was clean and tidy and the shower had hot water. Breakfast was also very nice, with some northern Brazilian delicacies on offer. Breakfast was also different every day. The owners, Erlane and Carlos, were very helpful and gave the place such a special feel. We had some long chats with them over meals (Erlane can prepare dinner if it is a small group of people and they are delicious!) and these made the experience all the more special. They are amazing hosts! They also organised our return transfer from Sao Luis to Santo Amaro (Carlos even offered to take the transfer to pick us up if we were worried and that was six hours!), gave us tips of where to go for lunch or on our spare time in Santo Amaro and organised trips to the local places for us. While all three tours were good, I have to make a special mention to Mr Valdir. He is a really fab guide who can take you the America’s part of the NP and has a lot of local knowledge. Carlos and Erlane’s children are a very present part of life at the pousada, which make the stay all the more homey. I would absolutely recommend this pousada and Santo Amaro for a fantastic time and a really authentic Brazilian experience.

Relaxing, very friendly stay.

Hospedaria Fe Em Deus: Faith In God
Surprisingly for such a little known village as is Santo Amaro, you can find two very nice pousadas here, Agua Doce (Rua Oswaldo Cruz 26, phone number 098 3244 2231) and Solar das Gaivotas (Rua Oswaldo Cruz 33, phone number 098 3369 1064). Nevertheless, we decided to stay in a simple guest house Fe Em Deus due to very limited time we spent in Santo Amaro. In fact, we only stayed one day and half of the night.
Fe Em Deus is a basic family-run place, but it's got about everything one would need for a short stay. We took a room with a fan which had one double and two single beds, each of them with mosquito net, and it had bathroom (with warm water) en suite. There was a hammock on a little veranda in front of the room but we had actually no time to use it.
This guest house is located at the beginning of the village. Unfortunately I can't recall to memory the address. But I'm sure that in such a small village as is Santo Amaro it won't be difficult to find anything.
Fe Em Deus also houses a little shop with basic supply. It came very handy to buy water since almost everything was closed due to the New Year festive days.
