Jardim do Eden: Just Imagine... Being in Paradise!

For those who like the mystic of nature and look for something different... Jardim do Eden is an ecological senctuary where you enjoy the comfort and safety in the middle of nature and in the harmony with the local flora and fauna. Easily the best place on the island, not only for the quality of its lodging and restaurant (both excellent) but its location on pretty Praia do Farol, just out of Algodoal village.

The place is owned by a Brazilian-French couple who also speak English and Spanish and are very attentive and helpful. The Jardim has a variety of cheap to moderately priced accommodations - from camping space and hooks to sling a hammock to brick chalets and a bungalow in gothic style, large enough for up to six people (it is built by vulcanic stones found deep in the sea), everything just 50 m from the beach and surrounded with tropical fruit trees. A unique place within the Amazon!! The variety of ecological trips can be arranged.

A good breakfast is included. In the restaurant Eden you get the best food on the island, which includes very fresh crab, shrimp, fish and vegetrian food.

Well, I was actually not staying in Jardim do Eden as during Christmas and New Year time it was totally booked. But I could at least admire its beauty when I was passing by :))

Estrela Sol: In the Shade of Tropical Fruit Trees

Pousada Estrela Sol is located in the quiet area of the village, in the shade of caju (cashew) and lime trees. It offers private suites with air-conditioning or with fan.

Breakfast is included in the price of accommodation but it was quite simple: bread, butter, eggs, tapioca (that I love!), fruit, juice, coffee... It's served in the restaurant that during the day offers sea food typical of the island: fish, shrimps, crab...

This pousada even has a swimming pool. I generally don't like them... I prefer the sea!! But one day after a long walk around the island I found it quite suitable :))
