Feira Especial de Natal
by mircaskirca
From the end of November until the end of December there is the annual Feira Especial de Natal (Special Christmas Fair) in Praca Osorio. Local artisans participate in the fair with the products that are related to Christmas, suitable for presents or directed to tourists. It is organized by Municipal Office of Tourism which make the selection of crafts and food related to Christmas that are typical or ethnic groups of the state of Parana.
They focus on products that can delight visitors of the city and awake the spirit of Christmas among curitibanos: garlands, tree decorations, embroidery, little angels, snowmen, little pine-trees, wooden toys, dolls, panetons, Christmas biscuits, table arrangements, sweets and other items. The fair also includes the traditional house of Santa Claus.
But what I enjoyed the most here was the cuisine. There were numerous stalls selling food that is typical for individual states, from Para to Bahia. I was more than happy that I coud get my favourite Brazilian dishes here: tacaca, acaraje, tapioca and cocada. Pure delight!
Prosit und Alles Gute!!!
by ahoerner about Bar do Alemão
This great place right in the heart of the city reminds us of an old german tavern... it is the meeting point of lots of people after work or even when there's nothing more to do late at night...
Great beer and "Submarines" (beer with a tiny Steinhaeger mug "submerged" in it) and, of course, german dishes and sausages.
Curious thing: there you can "honestly" steal the tiny Steinhaeger mug and begin a collection of them...

"Interesting"
My first time in Curitba was in 2002, I had traveled to here with friends in order to participate of a student congress and rapidly I fell in love for this great city. Actually, it is not hard in falling love for Curitiba, all is pretty, parks, people, weather, costumes, food and cozy restaurants and hotels. I left Curitiba saying that I would return here for living.
Four years later, the intentions became true. So, in 2006 I had a chance in moving to this great modern cosmopolitan city to take Master's degree at PUCPR.
Then, I will try use this page to show special things from here, which I experienced by myself.
Enjoy Curitiba!
"German Woods"
Woods in order to celebrate the german presence in Curitiba! Culture, custums and ethnicity...
It is a lovely place, specially to children. There is a path telling the "Hänsel und Gretel", a germanic fairy tale written by Brothers Grimm.
"Local Transportation"
Curitiba is also known for its great local transportation! With large transparent tubular structures as buses station and easy connections in the whole metropolitan area inclusive.
