Hotel Del Rey

I lived here as a monthly renter for the last three months while on my exchange program. The hotel is located on the ´calcadao´ a large pedestrian walkway that cuts through the heart of downtown Curitiba in the ´Centro´ district. It is located next to Plaza Osorio with easy access to supermarket, restaurants, shopping malls, and entertainment all within walking distance, although at night I would take taxis everywhere for safety issues, although the area is relatively safe and there is always a police presence which is reassuring when in Brazil.

There is wireless internet access, a comfortable lobby, restaurant, small gym, and very good service. Staff will provide advice on tourism and getting around the city. Maid service is reliable, rooms are always clean, and service is 24 hours a day. The hotel is a bit old and it shows in the bathrooms in the rooms, not the best, but sufficient.

I would recommend this hotel for its economic value, location, and staff. The amenities are ok, satifisfactory for a decent price.

Unique Quality: Heart of the city on the pedestrian walkway of Rua XV de Novembro where alot of action is. Can be noisy during the day but if you like activity and movement and constant people watching it is good. Many restaurants and shops close by, access to taxis and buses, and everything required is within walking distance.
