I would classify this as a generic 3 star hotel. The photos make it look much nicer than the plain, bare rooms really are. I had a single room with a queen bed and there was about 2 feet of space between the bed and the walls or desk. White walls with no decoration what so ever - not even a painting, photo or mirror on the walls. A thru wall AC unit that blows air at the bed, cheap flourscent lighting and a 19" color (Tube) TV - that does get about 10 American english channels. Wifi did work in the rooms although it was charged extra and the signal was weak but workable. The bed was flat and firm, but not particularly comfortable. The in room safe was closed and locked and there was a small fridge (very quiet) with soft drinks (no alcohol) in the room.
The lobby is clean and quite nice with a small bar and a dining area with good wifi throughout. Breakfast is in this dining room and is mostly continental - breads, fruit, yogurt and some gawd awful liquid scambeled eggs with bacon(?) that screamed "do not eat me". I opted for the fruit and some breads and coffee. Coffee was pretty mediocre so head to the coffee shops in the mall to get the good stuff.
The staff was very helpful. Only one spoke English, but between their broken English and my broken Portuguese we got along well. I really liked the staff and they went out of their way to be helpful. I felt very safe in this hotel and felt that all my belongings were safe as well.
Other than the mall, there is nothing nearby. There is a major grocery store across the street, then its 10 blocks to restaurants or anything else. That's not bad, its just that if you want to do anything or eat at some place other than the mall you generally need to take a taxi.
I am a very frequent flier and stayed here for a week on business. I wasn't able to compare prices to other hotels in the area, but this seemed expensive for what you got.
Unique Quality: This is a generic hotel, next to a large shopping center and the Convention Center. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Directions: Adjacent to The Convention Center
