Ilha do Mel Café - Cyber Lounge & Guest House: Ilha do Mel Café - a must at the island!

This is the fifth time I visit Ilha do Mel (a must in brazil) and had one of the best experiences ever this time - october/2009.
Spent six days at the Ilha do Mel Café - guest house cyberlounge owned by Charles & Simone; Charles from Rio de Janeiro and Simone from Curitiba - he speaks english which helps allover. My portuguese is awful! Charles is a local now as he´s been surfing the island since 1975, so he knows whats happening on the island plus, as a historian, has several books in his library on the subject. He also runs a huge website (www.ilhadomelonline.com.br). Speaking of books, they hv a huge library and book exchange (with abt 500 books) open for travelers!
The hostel/guest house/pousada has only two rooms which makes it a one-on-one experience. The two of them are very friendly and courteous and make you feel at home real fast. Eliane, (the employee) is very helpful and courteous as well, always wanting to please.
The location is perfect as its between the three main beaches (praia de fora/praia grande/praia do farol) at the farol/nova brasilia area. As a matter of fact the hostel is on lighthouse (farol) beach.
The rooms are confortable (good matress/4 pillows) and decorated with handcraft nautical motifs made by the natives and purchased in Paranagua - a city close by. By the way, the whole house is full of interesting craftworks made of liane and recycled wood. The room has a gorgeous bathroom with posh modern porcelain - top grade!
One of the best things is silence. As the inn is distant from the night gatherings there´s no loud music to disturb, just the birds.
Breakfast is awesome with fruit, juice, cakes, honey, cheese, ham, eggs, excellent coffee and the company of dozens of birds, of all colors and types.
Yes, its a cafe with everything you can get from coffee - capuccinos, espressos, mocha, plus cakes, pies, brownie & ice cream (got addicted to that), you name it. Also, charles has a collection of cachaça and makes outstanding " caipiriñas" (typical brazilian drink) at the bar. Internet is also available as well as a tobacco store full of cigars and gadgets. ( i don't smoke).
I strongly recommend this hostel due to all the facts above.
While traveling you can come upon the most grotesque and impersonal places to stay which makes you value such a place. That’s why I wrote all this, they deserve it. Give yourself a travel treat!
