Part of the Main Rooms Block & Pool by Bwana_Brown The 118-room, 4-star Esturion Hotel, located in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina, was selected for us by our Argentine internet tour organizer, Ripio Turismo. The hotel is located almost at the end of the streets in Puerto Iguazu, on the point of land where the Iguazu and Parana Rivers meet. It is also the spot where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet each other! The hotel is located only a few minutes drive from the international bridge over the Rio Iguazu leading into Brazil. From there, it is another short drive to the entrance of Parque Nacional do Iguacu.
We liked the looks of the place as soon as we drove in through their big gate in the fenced-off hotel grounds. Nicely manicured grounds, clay tennis courts off to the side and a beautiful swimming pool at a lower elevation with colourful bougainvillea vines climbing the walls. It was looking good already! Since we were pre-paid as part of the package deal, we never actually paid a room rate, but an internet site (details below) quotes their single and double rooms at about US$70. After a hot day walking around the national park at Iguazu Falls, we really enjoyed the pleasures of this hotel swimming pool! Sunset over the falls, as seen from outside hotel by toonsarah, 2 more photos This is the best-located hotel to stay in if you're visiting the falls at Iguaçu so of course it doesn't come cheap, but we thought it was worth paying the extra for. It's in a brilliant location actually inside the national park and only a few minutes' walk from the falls. Although large and sprawling, the traditional style ensures that it has a bit of character, and the amenities are good. There's a bar with a terrace overlooking the gardens leading down to the river, and a more traditional interior with dark wood and a piano. The restaurant serves fairly standard tourist buffet food, but you can choose to splash out on dishes from an á la carte menu which we did one evening and had a very good meal. There's also a reasonably sized pool if you haven't got wet enough already walking by the falls! A room for two in October of this year (2008) would cost just under $189 according to the hotel’s own website (see below) but I reckon you could find cheaper by shopping around. Since our visit the hotel appears to have added a spa to its list of facilities, but I imagine you would pay extra to use this.
When we spent a couple of hours by the pool one afternoon we enjoyed a visit from a pair of coati – their antics kept us amused for quite a while!

Hotel Tropical das Cataratas by andal13 Honestly... I did not stay there! (And probably never will...) Honestamente... no me hospedé allí! (Y probablemente nunca lo haga...)
Low budget travellers of the world... This place is not for us!!!! Situated in the middle of the National Park, surrounded by the forest, with a spectacular view to the waterfalls... Wow! Never mind... probably the noise of the waterfalls does not let you sleep!!!! The picture was taken by me... from a helicopter!!!!

Downtown Foz do Iguacu by Bwana_Brown With a population of about 300,000 people, compared to the 30,000 in Puerto Iguazu, Foz do Iguacu offers many more choices when it comes to Accommodations or anything else you can think of. We only visited the downtown area of Foz for just under 2 hours, the day before our Brazil-side Falls tour, so we did not actually spend much time there. However, it was evident from the skyline and signage that there is no shortage of good places to stay here on the Brazilian-side.
The streets were very attractive and the city seemed friendly enough in our brief experience. They actually have a 'tourist patrol' of some sort that approached us to give us some friendly advice as we stood there looking like, 'tourists' I guess! Theme: OtherDirections: Foz do Iguacu, only a few kms away from the Parque entrance.

by acemj I stayed in this modern and comfortable hotel in a great location in Foz do Iguacu. You're only a couple blocks from the main street in town in which all of the nightlife is located and only a few more blocks to the main bus station in town. The rooms are comfortable with good beds, reliable air conditioning and nice hot showers.
A great breakfast buffet is included in the cost and there is also a nice swimming pool and office facilities including internet access (although it's over-priced to surf the web here). For more details, check out my Foz do Iguacu page.

Hostel Paudimar in Foz do Iguacu by mangueirense The "Paudimar Campestre" hostel in Foz do Iguacu is the best in the area and easy acessable by bus. It's located about 15 kms from the city center and located 2 kms near of the brazilian national park. It's also very close to the airport (around 1 km) and its location is very convenient to those who are flying in or out of Iguaçú. It looks like a small hotel with swimming pool and soccer field and does have also a beautiful garden with hammocks. It's also very inexpensive - only around R$ 12,00 (about US$ 4,00) a night in a shared room and about 30 Reais in a double-room called "cabana". If you are not Hostelling International member you can sleep there too, paying a little of around 10 Reais per person more. Its location is very convenient for visiting the Brazilian side of the falls, and they also organize day-trips to the argentinian side for R$ 20,00 (US$ 6,50) per person, which is the cheapest bargain you can get (add about R$ 30,00 - US$ 10,00 for the park entrance- fee in Argetina). If you would have to go on your own you'd need to take four buses to get to the Argentinian National Park. If you would like to reserve there, contact hostel Paudimar in advance, as they're usually fully booked all around the year. tropical, from the helicopter by acemj Well, I didn't stay here, but this is the only hotel that's actually located in the national park. It's a first class place with all the expected amenities, but best of all, you're only steps from an amazing view of the falls. While you can't actually see the falls from any of the rooms, you'll certainly be able to hear them.

Another view of the Falls by scarm Although there are several high priced and exclusive hotels close to the National Park, including the very posh hotel inside the park, I would recommend staying in the town of Foz de Iguaçu, itself. Foz de Iguaçu is a small city, but it has over 150 hotels, and good clean accomodations can be gotten for around US$40 per night. From downtown Foz, there is excellent bus service to the Falls as well as to the nearby border towns in Paraguay and Argentina. Plus, there are numerous restaurants and shops in the downtown Foz area, and the streets seem fairly safe for walks around town.
I would check the internet for hotel listings, as the hotels are numerous, including high-rise hotels with views of the river. Nearly all hotels in Brazil offer breakfast to all of the patrons, with a full spread of fruits, breads, meats and cheese, juices, and sometimes even scrambled eggs and bacon.

We didn't stay there, preferring to stay in town, so, the only thing I must say is that this is the only hotel at walking distance from the falls. But one thing you have to decide: If you want to stay in the middle of nowhere, just to "live" the falls and its jungle, this is your place (if you can afford it). If you want a more lively place (not much...) you better stay in town and come by car, having in mind that this town follows American standards, which means that everything is spread and distant. We didn't stay here but visitors wanting to stay right inside the park might take a look at this hotel which is within walking distance of the Falls. I'm pretty sure if you stay here you don't have a view of the Falls from the hotel since the hotel is not very tall. If you want to stay inside the National Park on the Argentine side, take a look at the Sheraton Internacional Iguazu Resort.
