Tropical das Cataratas: Now THIS is a great location

Well, I didn't stay here, but this is the only hotel that's actually located in the national park. It's a first class place with all the expected amenities, but best of all, you're only steps from an amazing view of the falls. While you can't actually see the falls from any of the rooms, you'll certainly be able to hear them.

Hotel Rafain Centro: Modern, comfortable, great location

I stayed in this modern and comfortable hotel in a great location in Foz do Iguacu. You're only a couple blocks from the main street in town in which all of the nightlife is located and only a few more blocks to the main bus station in town. The rooms are comfortable with good beds, reliable air conditioning and nice hot showers.

A great breakfast buffet is included in the cost and there is also a nice swimming pool and office facilities including internet access (although it's over-priced to surf the web here).

For more details, check out my Foz do Iguacu page.

Albergue da Juventude Paudimar Campestre: Hostel Paudimar Campestre

The only drawback of the location of this hostel is, that you are far away from downtown Foz to go out at night to eat.
But inside the hostel they have also a kitchen free to use for traveller's which is frequented fairly well, so you can buy your own stuff and cook yourself if you want to!
There is also a meal at night (you have to reserve it in advance at the reception) you can have, it's around 5 Reais per person and so a real bargain, 'cause you will never find a place to eat out in town or elsewhere with such a reasonable price for eating!

Staying in Foz do Iguacu or Puerto Iguacu..?

As I have read this question a thousand times in travel related forums or fellow travellers had asked me this question many times too:

I think the brazilian side has better hotels and restaurants, and it's not more dangerous than the argentinian side, unless you go to the neighborhood near the border with Paraguay, which is kind of run down.
The city of Foz do Iguacu itself has thousand of options for good restaurants, from A to Z ...as well as touristic dance shows.
I'd definitely stay in Foz do Iguaçú (Brazil) and not in Puerto Iguazú (Argentina).

Albergue Paudimar Campestre: Youth Hostel in Foz do Iguacu- near of the Falls

The "Paudimar Campestre" hostel in Foz do Iguacu is the best in the area and easy acessable by bus. It's located about 15 kms from the city center and located 2 kms near of the brazilian national park. It's also very close to the airport (around 1 km) and its location is very convenient to those who are flying in or out of Iguaçú.

It looks like a small hotel with swimming pool and soccer field and does have also a beautiful garden with hammocks. It's also very inexpensive - only around R$ 12,00 (about US$ 4,00) a night in a shared room and about 30 Reais in a double-room called "cabana". If you are not Hostelling International member you can sleep there too, paying a little of around 10 Reais per person more.
Its location is very convenient for visiting the Brazilian side of the falls, and they also organize day-trips to the argentinian side for R$ 20,00 (US$ 6,50) per person, which is the cheapest bargain you can get (add about R$ 30,00 - US$ 10,00 for the park entrance- fee in Argetina).
If you would have to go on your own you'd need to take four buses to get to the Argentinian National Park.

If you would like to reserve there, contact hostel Paudimar in advance, as they're usually fully booked all around the year.

Tropical das Cataratas: Airprojects.com

I bought a package from Airprojects.com which is based in Miami. 3 days 2 nights including flight from Sao Paulo to Foz do Iguacu costs US$497 for single room. On average, the room costs about US$100 per night. Price also includes buffet breakfast but make sure you don't ask for fried eggs. The hotel charged me for almost US$3 for 2 fried eggs!!!!! In any hotels I've ever stayed, none had ever charged me for fried eggs (in a buffet breakfast)! It's outrageous!

Tropical das Cataratas is the only hotel that's IN the National Park. The Falls is within walking distance.

Hotel Tropical Das Cataratas: The only hotel in the National Park

This hotel is a modern hotel located walking distance from the Brazilian falls. It is located right in the national park, overlooking the falls.

There is a great pool with volley ball net to cool down after the hot and humid days. The rooms are ok as well with mini bar, tv, and aircon. The best part of the hotel is location, right by the falls.

If you can speak Portuguese cheak out this:

Tropical das Cataratas ECO Resort integrado a natureza

Dentro do Parque Nacional do Iguaçu é o único hotel no lado brasileiro em frente às Cataratas do Iguaçu, apenas 15 km do Aeroporto Internacional e 25 km do centro de Foz do Iguaçu. O Tropical das Cataratas foi pioneiro na adoção de políticas ecológicas, essa iniciativa resultou na primeira Certificação de Gestão Ambiental - ISO 14.001 da América Latina.

Simple and economic hotels: Foz de Iguaçu

Although there are several high priced and exclusive hotels close to the National Park, including the very posh hotel inside the park, I would recommend staying in the town of Foz de Iguaçu, itself. Foz de Iguaçu is a small city, but it has over 150 hotels, and good clean accomodations can be gotten for around US$40 per night. From downtown Foz, there is excellent bus service to the Falls as well as to the nearby border towns in Paraguay and Argentina. Plus, there are numerous restaurants and shops in the downtown Foz area, and the streets seem fairly safe for walks around town.

I would check the internet for hotel listings, as the hotels are numerous, including high-rise hotels with views of the river. Nearly all hotels in Brazil offer breakfast to all of the patrons, with a full spread of fruits, breads, meats and cheese, juices, and sometimes even scrambled eggs and bacon.
