What can I do in Natal of sports?

by Norsoul

Hi, will travel to natal 28/2 - 13/3-2005. We are sportsinterested, so what is cool to do there? Scubadiving, Padel, tennis, indoor gyms? We are interested in tips on this and other opportunities close to Punta Negra.

Look forward to a warm and nice vacation :-)

If your're into fighting sports Natal is the place. Try www.kimuranovauniao.com.br for the best jiu jitsu academy.

Other than that you can surf. And there are a couple of snorkling and diving spots not far away.

Indoor sports we have for sure but i dunno where.

have fun

Travel Tips for Natal

Blue skies and beaches

by Dantas

Beautiful, safe, great beaches and a wonderful blue sky. So is Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte State in Brazil.
Don´t expect to find out big or famous museums or even a hot night life in Natal. The better to do is to enjoy the wonderful scenerie of blue and deep green waters of its beaches surrounded for huge and white dunes. Once there you can go on a beach buggy safari in the sand dunes with many fresh water lagoons, horseriding, visiting small markets, handcraft stores or even took along to a football match. There are a big variety of accommodation from top resorts to small familiar inns with uncomparable prices if the reference are the similar in europe or north america.
The food is excellet and cheap. Plenty of choice specially around Ponta Negra beach where are most hotels and hostels in town.
People are very friendly and many speak or at least try to speak english or spanish. Maybe that´s the reason why so many strangers now live in Natal.
The temperature runns between 18 to 32 º C all year round and after a busy day up and down visiting so many beaches is time to enjoy some of its dozens good restaurants with all kind of food but speciality the ones with fish or sea foods. The seafoods and the warm water all the time, even at night.

Auquarium in Santa Rita - Aquario Natal

by madvex

Also on the road to Genipabu you will pass an Aquario (aquarium) where for about $2 USD you get a guided tour and explanation of all kinds of exotic native fish and animals of Brazil.

The tour is in portuguese of course, so it will help if you speak it. But, even if you don't, I'm sure you'll find it enjoyable. From Monkees and Piranha to Sharks, Penguins and Electric eels (piexe electrico)! You can even pet the sharks! (tem a coragem?)

This place was called Aquario Natal, it's right on the road to Genipabu in Santa Rita. Redinha Nova - Lotoral Norte

Beaches around Natal

by realde14

There are several beaches around the city of Natal. To the south, there is popular Ponta Negra, then you have, the Praisas dos Artistas, do Meio and do Forte, where the Forte dos Reis Magos is located.

Ponta Negra is very touristy, Praia dos Artistas has good surfing and Praisa do Forte and Praia do Meio are mainly frequented by locals.

"PONTA NEGRA"

This is from our rtip to the north coast of Brasil.
The nearest big city was Fortaleza.
We stayed at a small place called Ponta Negra, outside Natal.
