Youth hostel in Natal

by mangueirense about Albergue da Juventude Lua Cheia

The "Albergue Lua Cheia" is a very amazing place where me and my boyfriend stayed during our trip to Natal in July 2001!

We stayed at the youth hostel near of Ponta Negra beach (5 minutes walk by feet down to the beach) which is like a castle, very clean and also cheap, I would highly reccomend it to you!
Here the complete adress:

Albergue da Juventude Lua Cheia
Rua Doutor Manoel Augusto Bezerra de Araujo , 500-Ponta Negra
CEP 59090-430 Natal ?R.N.
Tel : (084) 2363- 696
Fax: (084) 2364- 747
E Mail :

We have had a double room (quarto de casal) which was for 4 persons with one double bed and two other beds..., but we stayed there on our own. The room is nice, clean and also kind of big (but that's okay, because you have some place for your luggages), has a bathroom with shower (warm water), toilet, and the price including breakfast was 54 Reais /day...(per room)!

The actual prices are:

MEMBER R$ 24,00
COUPLE R$ 70,00 Ponta Negra beach is (in my opinion) the best place to stay in Natal, the beaches around the city centre aren't beautiful like this one, ..Ponta Negra is clean and beautiful, very nice place to swim, ideal for families with children!
And besides of in Ponta Negra you have also plenty of nice restaurants and bars along the sidewalk (calcadao) at Av. Erivam Franca, and some very nice restaurants at Av. Eng. Roberto Freire, they have good food for cheap prices...and a good nightlife too!

VIP Flat - apartment style hotel

by xantylaol about VIP Flat Hotel Conforto

This is a slightly expensive apartment style hotel that offers accommodationnear the beach of Ponta Negra. Some rooms are with and some without seaview. Nice, new, clean rooms and forthcoming staff that contribute to a pleasant stay. The service was very personal and most of the staff were helpsome, friendly and showed positive interest.

Hotel with a soul!

by MissBeaW about Laina's Place Hotel

For twelve fantastic weeks, this was my home! Situated about 200 m from the beautiful Ponta Negra beach, 400 meters from the populare bar-street, and with only 34 rooms, this is the perfect place to stay in Ponta Negra, Natal.
The hotel has been added on a few times, something that has brought a lot of charm to the place, and the atmosphere there is fantastic!
One thing that for sure makes a stay at this hotel something out of the normal, is the fact that it is occupied by a group of Norwegian students 24 weeks of the year. While I was staying there, august-november, we were 33 students there, and whenever new guests arrived, we felt it as if we had visitors, and they often became a part of our 'family'! Some were guests at a couple of our parties, and others got to watch our capoeira and samba practises and shows!
Because of the students, about half of the staff understands English, something that can be very useful! Breakfast is of course included in the prize, but when the students are there, you can also choose to eat lunch and dinner at the hotel! If this is not an option, you shouldn't be forced to starve, as there are many great restaurants in the area around the hotel. In addition to what I have al ready mentioned, the hotel has a pretty nicely sized swimming pool, table tennis, and almost all of the rooms have a great 180 degrees view to Ponta Negra's famous sand hill!

A Decent Pousada

by madvex about O Tempo E O Vento

Very close to Ponta Negra beach strip area (walking distance) with decent ocean vistas and accommodations.

For 50 R$ per night - or less than 20$ USD - this hotel is very nice. Although the beds weren't anything to write home about, the price and location is right and includes free breakfast every morning nice ocean views and a hammock on your room's outside deck - sweet!

They have a nice pool and and the staff was very nice as well. The rooms are the same if you get a double or a single (double is 68R$). For a single they just push the 2 beds together. I found this annoying, since you can sleep on only one anyway.. else you may end up on the floor between. But, overall a nice place.

If you're anything like me, you're only going to be sleeping there anyway.. the location is good and at this price, you can't go wrong. Secure gated entry
Free breakfast
Ocean views
Small pool w/ swim up bar
Separate Children's pool
Free cafezihno (espresso) at night

Just on the beach

by dracobr about Blue Marlin Hotel

My wife and me stayed in this hotel for a whole week in the end of 2007. It is located on a quiet block in front of Ponta Negra beach and has views to the large beach from balcony´s room. All rooms have sea view but the ones who are located in the front part have two balconies, both with stunning views. The rooms are quite big (35 up 45 sq/meters) with an integrated small kitchen, the king size beds are new and confortable, ar conditioner ok and breakfast on the roof, really great.
The pool is not big but enough for swimmig and the bar is inside. The friendly staff speak english, spanish and a bit german and norwegian. In the lobby there´s a small library with most books in norwegian, portuguese and english.

Also I have recommended this hotel to friends in Germany and they all tell me the standard has not changed since then.

In high saison the price can be a bit high but from march to june and oct to november, one can negotiate very nice rates. The friendly staff do everything they can to make your stay unforgetable.

Beautiful Grounds

by mandybailey about Mango Guesthouse

We spent a night here before, and another after, our stay in the Amazon, it's a perfect guesthouse for doing that! They'll happily hold your excess luggage for you while you're away for 10 reais per piece of luggage. The rooms are really spacious (our bathroom was huge and we had a walkin wardrobe!) and clean, and the breakfasts are delicious!
My only negative comments are that it isn't in the best location, we had to get a taxi to go out for the evenings, however it was only a short journey to Ponta Negra or Manuas for bars and restaurants, we wasn't there long enough for it to be a huge problem.
Also, the staff were helpful and polite but there wasn't the same friendliness about them as the people we'd met working in the pousadas in Salvador. It wasn't a problem, just an observation! The best thing about this guesthouse is the grounds, it has beautiful gardens, a small pool and outdoor eating areas. It's a really pretty guesthouse. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Ponta Negra is one of the local urban beaches of Natal... Probably one of the most famous in Natal-RN. It is well known by its 40m dune on the right side of the bay.

The village of Ponta Negra is a few square kilometers large. It used to be home for fishers and other working people; around early 1990's, the tourism businesses began to take ove the area; a few years ago, foreigner investors (notably Italians, Portuguese and other Europeans) started to pour money into the area, and tourism oriented businesses flourished.
Today, there are men at work all around the village. Medium and small hotels and flats are being built everywhere (there is no free space for bigger hotels). Houses are being refurbished and adapted to become restaurants, shops, etc. There are few slots of real estate left

The "Inga Praia Hotel" in Ponta Negra is a small nice hotel in the middle of Ponta Negra.
Very nice staff, and very nice and clean rooms.

You can whithout problem find your private beach in this area, but if you do so -do not bring any valuables - or even a bag - there can be "muggers" waiting in the bushes - and if you do not bring anything - they do not bather to rob you !

This nice family came every day, parking their car-opened the back-door - and suddenly it had become a nice restaurant with nice small dishes such as hamburgers , fried eggs, sausages etc..... and the cook (the very pregnant one :-) made us some very nice meals after beeing at the beach all day.

There is an Italian pousada called Maresaias or something like that. Not a bad pousada. R$80 for a couple. Private room with balcony, bathroom, clean, fan, nice owners. Close to everything. You can find cheaper. Great breakfast and about 2 blocks from the beach. It's a great pousada to stay in your first night while you check out other ones. It's medium cost and good location. Oh, has a pool too with hammocks. If you are going to stay a while and can utilize all the perks I'd say go for it. BTW, If you are standing facing the pousada and walk about 100 meters to your right there is a VERY cheap internet place (R$2/hr)
