INTRO AND SUMMARY OF BRAZIL:
The last night of my stay in Brazil, I walked home alone the 400 meters from a restaurant to my hotel in Ponta Negra, Natal. I was really happy that the two boring, unexciting weeks in Brazil was over.
The last night of their stay in Brazil, a swedish boy and his girlfriend walked home alone the few meters from the restaurant to their hotel in Ponta Negra, Natal. The next day they weren't on the plane with us. She was with him in a hospital. He was somewhere inbetween life and death in a respirator with serious gun shot wounds.
The robbers had some cash and a digital camera.
"Unfortunately this is not very uncommon", the chief of the tourist police, Natal in Brazil December 2004.

Traveling to Recife & Natal ...can you help?
by muscals272
I am planning a trip to Recife & want to go to Natal.
Do you know how long it takes by bus to get from Natal to Recife? And how much it cost?
Also, do you know of a beach that is called "Bald Mountain" ...i don't know the name in Portuguese?
Do you know the sand dunes to rent buggys in Natal?
Thanks!

Natal to Recife = 290km.
Price = Don't know...something around R$35 (US$15) each way.
Bald Mountain Beach = You should meant "Morro do Careca" (Bald's Hill) at "Praia da Ponta Negra" (Black Edge Beach)...very knowed place.
Cheers,
Henrysp.

There are lots of places where you can take dune buggy rides, the whole are (Rio Grands de Nord, Pernambuco and Ceara) are blessed with dunes all over the bloody place. You'll be able to arrange your buggy ride or tour in any of the main towns and cities. In Natal if you head down to Punta Negra (the beach with the big dune) you can arrange buggy rides down the coast, but any acomodation you are staying at will be able to arrange it for you anyway. In Recife definately go and visit Olinda, and in Natal, Praia da Pipa rocks! both are only short bus journeys and you can get a buggy tour down the beaches, across rivers and over the dunes to Pipa.
