Forest Resort

Prais das Caravelas is the time share portion of this resort. We stayed in a 3 bedroom 2 bath chalet. It was sparsely but adequately furnished and quite spacious. It sleeps 8. Accomodations are not first class but the personnel are friendly and helpful. The resort is located in a forest and has several interesting walking paths that connect you with different areas of the resort. It has a beach, two pools that we saw, 2 restaurants. The main restaurant near the flats has mediocre food so I would not recommend the all inclusive option unless you don't have transportation. A car is a must! The resort is several miles from downtown Buzios where the shopping, restaurants, Internet cafes and other entertainment is. There are activities at the resort, however, a listing of activities was not given to us. Some were word of mouth from the activity personnel on the beach, and the restaurant put a flyer in our door. (No posted events may have been because it was not peak season.) There is horseback riding at the resort by a gentleman who owns four horses. .. $10 per hour and he's a great guide. Beware of the 2 miles of pothole, dirt/clay/sand road leading to/from the resort.

Unique Quality: The beauty and charm of the compound are its strong point. Views are wonderful..especially on the beach or from the hillside pool. Take a horseback ride through the forest on very narrow paths and the guide will take you to another beach and a grassy lookout point where you can see Cabo Frio.
