Dive Buzios II
The dive site we dived was Anchor Island. The topography of this dive was very interesting with large boulders, overhangs, small caves. The depth varied between 10 meters and 24 meters to the sand bottom. Sightings included turtles, eels, rays, plenty of butterfly, surgeon, angel and soldier fish. Visibility was about 20 meters with water temperature being around 22 degrees C. However huge drops in temperature at the bottom of the sea where temperature fell to about 17 degrees C.
Búzios - Holiday Paradise in Rio State
Once known as a little fishing village with miles of deserted beaches, Búzios has been elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas in the world, famous for its unique combination of rustic charm, architectural harmony, incredible beauty and sophisticated boutiques and restaurants that are frequented by discerning visitors who come from all over the world to savour its magic. Búzios is on a peninsula extending into the Atlantic Ocean with 23 beaches. The beaches vary greatly from rough to gentle terrain, busy to tranquil atmospheres, and warm to cool waters. With the arrival of Brigitte Bardot in the 60’s, Búzios, slowly turned into a tourist destination, famous worldwide.
Today, Búzios is the meeting point for the Brazilian’s upper classes during holidays, as well as many foreign tourists. During the day, the town is deserted as everyone heads for the many beaches to work on their suntans or to eat the readily available delicious seafood. At night, the town sparkles as all the beautiful people vie with each other for attention. The evening begins at ten and goes on to dawn, when the innumerable street-bars finally close their doors.
The sheer number of beaches close to town makes it easy to experience Brazilian beach culture firsthand. Geribá Beach is the place for surfing. Quiet and calm and very deep, Ferruda Beach is perfect for a lazy afternoon snorkel. Right in town on Ossos Beach you can sip a caipirinha at a beachside café. And at night, everyone comes to the busy, bar- and cafe-lined Rua das Pedras to stroll, primp, drink, and party.
The weather in Buzios is nice and is called “Sol and Chuva” (sun and rain) because it is not rare to see the sun shining while it is raining. For the daring you can enjoy your choice of sunbathing, surfing, diving, and great dining.
On Lagoinha Beach there is a natural amphitheater where there are music concerts and live shows.
