Various: Stay a while and rent an apartment

  • Having decided to stay put for a while I looked for a suitable apartment and found no shortage. If you rent for a month prices are around $US25 per night but it goes up in Jan and February due to holiday season and carnival. If you can afford $US50 per night you will get a nice apartment overlooking Copacabana with a balcony. Use your bargaining powers but don't expect huge discounts. Also check everything is in working order before moving in and parting with cash. If the TV is broke they may not fix it if you have paid up. Most apartments I was involved with were managed by proper agents who looked after them well.

    Most aparments are in large compexes andthese often have pools, restaurants, gyms and other facilites. Check that cableTV is offered if you want English language programmes.

  • it's nice hostel with nice staff, so friendly, it's i a quiet street, not to far from copacabana beach
    the room are nice, quite clean, and there is a nice bar to drink some cocktails in the night...
    i think it's good to stay some day

  • We rented an apartment for our stay in Copacabana. We had a friend recommend Ken at www.ez-riorentals.com . We were very pleased with the apartment and Ken was a great deal of help. He's an American living in Rio. It was a good feeling having somone on the ground, so to speak, that spoke English and knew the lay of the land. Price was less than a 3 star hotel and the apartment was much larger than any hotel we have ever stayed at. I will be back to Rio and will certainly contact Ken for another apartment.

    The apartment was large. The building had a 24 hour doorman. The apartment had sheets, towels and full kitchen with all utensils. Cable TV. Stereo, internet, etc. All included for a lot less than a hotel.

  • I can recommend you to stay in a holiday apartment, because it is quite cheaper and more luxurios than a hotel. You also have a lot more privacy than in a hotel. I was travelling several times to rio and now i am living there. My experience was that you find the best apartments/service with the cheapest prices at a turism agency called Agencia-Heidelberg, which is located at the Av. Prado Junior in Copacabana. The people there speak English, German, French, Spanish and Portugues and they take really care of you. They also give you a lot of informations about Sightseeing, Restaurants, Nightlife, Culture, etc.

  • This was not easy to find but well worth the effort. I enjoyed this place for all the right reasons ,central where you wanted to be and because it attracted the kind of people who want to make their dollars last to see and travel more.Had all the facilities plus a real livewire of fun loving staff . and it was clean and cheap.This was one fun place to hang out in and i stayed here several times.

    great value for money and a nice mix of people from backpackers to migrant workers waiters and barmen who knew their party city as only a local can.
