hotel in Copacabana with animation in the evening

by SnejM

Hi guys,

Are there hotels on Copacabana, which have animation programme in the evening, live music, caraokes's shows, etc

I am A mammy travelling with 2 teenagers,we can not go out at night for fun, so i would be very happy to find a hotel on Copacabana/Ipamena with happenings in the evenings

Thanks in advance for the info

I can't think of any hotels with shows, although there is the Samba City show , the Platforma show and one other touristic show, each at their own venues. There are also a lot of clubs with various types of music all over the city, including samba, particularly in Lapa, which would give you all a good feel for the culture. You might look at the site www.ipanema.com for good info.

Why do you feel you cannot go out of the hotel at night with your teens? (Or are you indeed a mammy/babysitter without sufficient responsibility, and not a mummy/mother?)
You will see Brazilians in all sorts of places (restaurants, bars) late at night with even very young children. Take the yellow taxis you see on the street and you will be fine getting from place to place. Stories you may have heard most probably are not the reality you will find once you arrive.
Happy travels.

Thanks, i though it is like in US, under 21 you can nto enter an entertainment place, we tried to listen to Jazz in Blue note Club in New york, they did not let us, if in Rio is possible and not dangerouse as everybody keeps on repeating to le, i would love it of course.
thanks again

Agree with bahiana on the above. Here is another site to explore.

You may want to consider a tour from your hotel that takes you to a Samba Show, at least. Pick up and drop off at your hotel.

I think you can sit at any bar or restaurant with teens, but there are many places for over 18s only. Take a cab at night. Have a nice trip!

Travel Tips for Rio de Janeiro

by janinha

Ppl here is very nice, friendly and funny.
We love parties, travelling through Brasil, going to the beaches and have a cold beer at any beach we have here.Go to Barra da Tijuca one of the most beautiful beaches. The seashore of Rio has many good restaurants and bars.Eat and drink well:
Barbacue: at Porcão
Cachaça and good food : at Academia da Cachaça (Cachaça Academy)
Feijoada at many good restaurants
When you are up to come send me an email so I can't tell you about MPB shows and so on...
You must go to Maracanã, Parque da Cidade, Museu de Art Moderna, to Niterói (many beaches), Indians Museum, and so on...If you surf go to Barra da Tijuca,Prainha. Go downtown to watch old architeture from the times of Brasil discovery. What I miss most in Rio when I'm travelling? The cariocas and the beauty

Cooling Off On Copacobana

by 43beckos

If you need to cool down a bit whilst walking along the beachfront of Copacobana, why not do as the locals do and visit one of the many lamposts that spray misted cold water over you on the beachfront. Free and very refreshing.

PLAN AHEAD FOR CARNIVAL

by Adelia

PLAN AHEAD FOR CARNIVAL:

If you want to get prepared for the next Carnival, the best thing to do is plan ahead at least 6 months in advance, so that you can pay the costume in instalments. Also, they run out of tickets soon, but this is more for us, Brazilians, because the travel agencies get as many tickets as they can. But each year prices go up and the later you decide to participate in Rio's Carnival (to watch or be on the parade) the more expensive it gets.

SWEDEN AGAIN :)

by RafaelTheSecond

To have met this happy swedish family was a pleasure, and saying good bye to many incredible people was quite sad, but I am sure they will always be back, because Rio is a house for them!;)
