watch your credit card hotel
I was moved to the Ceasar Park Ipanema hotel from my favorite hotel on Ipanema (Hotel Praia Ipanema) for one nite because of room problems (a small accident incapacitated one floor). We were treated very well. However, when I returned home, Visa notified my that my card was being used w/o authorization. Two days after checking out of the CP, there was a US$4.40 charge at the CP hotel and then several large attempts to use it in Ipanema. Thank God Visa was on the ball. Someone in CP used my card number (Visa said it had been swiped) to make sure it would work and then tried it in several stores, with no results. CP has a problem at their front desk or in their accounting department because my card was never out of my possession. My suggestion is to always check your card statement following a trip, regardless of whether the card has been out of your control. CP was the only place in Rio where my card was not swiped directly in front of me.

Excellent upscale hotel
If you can afford it, stay at the Caesar Park on Ipanema. Great rooftoop pool and restaurant with excellent food and views on Ipanema beach

Four star hotel on the beach in Ipanema. Excellent location, very helpful staff.

Caesar Park Hotel - Ipanema
It was about $160 USD a night for me, but we have a negotiated corporate rate. So you may find it more expensive than this. My room had a side view of the beach. I believe a direct view of the beach would cost you more!
Unique Quality: This hotel is a great hotel to stay at if your company is paying! The location is right on the Ipanema beach. It is also 2 blocks down from Rua Visconde de Piraja, where all the shopping, restaurants, drug stores, and mini supermarkets are. In my opinion, it is safe to walk around this area alone. Also their restaurant (where I eat breakfast) is on the 23rd floor with wonderful views of the beach. Only one warning about this hotel: Don't even think about having 2 people in the room unless you are paying for a double occupancy...they count toothbrushes!

Caesar Park Ipanema or a similar hotel in Copacabana or Leblon?
I know this question has been asked before .. but I am about to make a relatively expenisve booking at the Caesar Park Hotel for USD 240 a nght and dont want to make a mistake!
This is my first vsit to the city, and am on my honeymoon. We want to make sure that we stay in an area that is close to all the entertainment, restaurants, lesire activities and shopping..
Should I go ahead and make the booking? or look for a better room in a smaller hotel or anther location?
Any prompt input will be highly appreciated!

Hello,
Caesar Park is one of the best Hotels in town. It is on walking distance from many restaurants, shops, night life, etc. I think that you will be well served.
However if the price is a concern maybe you should look for less expensive alternatives.
In Copacabana there is a large selection of hotels, with ocean front view. On the top level: Copacabana Palace, Sofitel, J.W. Marriott, etc. The prices of those, possibly, compare to the Caesar Park. Other excelent hotels that perhaps can offer a more competitive rate are: Excelsior, Pestana Rio Atlantico, Rio Internacional and other.
Whichever is your decision about where to stay, the fact of having chosen Rio for your honey-moon means, by itself, that you will have plenty unforgetable memories. Just enjoy Rio, the "Marvelous City"

In case of the Caesar Park Ipanema hotel I can't tell you if you should stay there or better in Copacabana area...that's definitely your choice...
but I am sure from what I saw about on it's webpage it will please you....!

Definitely stay at Ceasar Park. Hopefully this will be your only honeymoon and so you want to make it memorable! Ipanema is THE place to be,specially for a woman - the shopping!!! All the little boutiques... the clothes, the shoes, the bags!!! Plus all the good restaurants, the bars, the nightlife. And the beach is much better and cleaner. Copacabana has lots of girls - you don't need them, you're taking your own. Stay in Ipanema.
