hostel
it's nice hostel with nice staff, so friendly, it's i a quiet street, not to far from copacabana beach
the room are nice, quite clean, and there is a nice bar to drink some cocktails in the night...
i think it's good to stay some day

only for the breakfast
This was possibly the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. The facilities were not great, the common areas are nice but the rooms are very bare. The staff was not very nice and tended to make me uncomfortable. They screwed up the first night and double booked the bed my sister was staying in and did not have anyone at the front desk that spoke more than portuguese so we couldn't fix the screw-up and my sister slept on the couch. Towels are not available (it says they are on hostels.com) and you have to pay for internet.
Unique Quality: The redeeming qualitites of this place is that it has a pretty good breakfast with mango juice included and you get a free drink with check-in.

very convenient location
Clean and safe place. Some rooms have bathrooms some don't. There are lockers to keep valuable things, but bring your own padlock.
Also calling in advance for reservatin doesn't help; we've called several times beforeheand and still they had no idea we're coming. We got there early in the morning and we had to wait for hours for someone to help us; The night shift let us in ..which was nice!
We got there by bus and was very easy to find it. The hostel staff told us which bus to take and the busdriver let us know about the busstop. Check out the website for map and directions.
Unique Quality: The best thing about the hostel is its strategic location-close to the beach, bus stops,stores and banks.

Gatoring around Rio
I did not have the chance to stay here. but it is nthe middle of the bar scene. This is the place to stay if you want to be close to the bars, restaurant etc.

The Party Hostal to be in Copacabana
It is a fun place to make friends to hang out with. the hostal organizes several tours to different places during the day and it has a night tours also.
It has an excellent staff, specially the kitchen staff is very helpful and accomodating. The breakfast is included in the price of the room. It is served from 6am-10am
Basically I went dancing every night of the 5 nights I was there and they even allow me to have my salsa workshop at their premisses.
Unique Quality: This is my first time in a Hostal with CO-ED rooms. I guess this is common in Brazil. I was surprized first but it was really fun. You will not have time to sleep anyway.
The hostal is very popular with people from all over the world that like to have a nightlife. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax this is not the place. this is a place to make friends , do activities in groups and to enjoy the Carioca's nightlife.
Make sure you reserve in advance, it has a waiting list !!!

Great Hostel
I love this place, and recoomend it to anyone. From the first day I arrived till my last day, they were helpful with any advice I needed, bus numbers etc and the staff are young and well informed on good night spots etc.
The breakfast is yummy, super fresh bread and fruit every morning and served till 11am as well!
I made some good friends at the hostel and was very sad to go!
Unique Quality: It is located a couple of roads away from the beach, and right near yummy cafes and the metro!
