Reasonable Hotel in Lapa

3 star hotel in middle of Lapa, 3 blocks from the Arches and the end of the tram line that goes to Santa Teresa suburb. great location for exploring all corners of the city, since many buses pass through this neighborhood. rooms are basic with old decor, but clean. they have safes (US$2 per day) and mini fridges in each room. the beds are hard as a rock, but you dont care during Carnival. ;) Prices are US$100 per night during Carnival, which I think is too high, but it was included as part of our tour package, so not sure if that is normal. Their website says they charge US$60 per night usually.
