The Samba Lives "Here"
by wrldtravler
If when you come to Rio, you come for the beaches and the beautiful tanned bodies then Zona Sul (the body of Rio) is where you should be headed. But, if you want to see the soul of Rio, then cross the Reboucas and go visit Zona Norte. Visit the Neighborhoods of Ville Isabel and Tijuca (not to be mistaken with Barra de Tijuca, which is in Zona Sul). Zona Norte I would argue is the True Essence of Rio.

After the eventful days I spent in Rio when I finally made it to bed I was always touched by what I saw from my window. I had my room on the 11th floor and I could see the Corcovado from my bed. It was beautifully illuminated at night - the photo below tells how it looked during the day.
A GREAT THING TO DO IN THE WEEKENDS
by RafaelTheSecond
The Botanic Garden is always a great thing to do every single day in the weekend, but there are more activities if you pick up one saturday or sunday. It will be a chance for you to be in touch with very rare brazilian flora, and also trees that you will only find in the Amazon Forest!
Just like this one, the majestic amazon Jatoba...
Here you can see me, Marcone and my mother in one of the things we love doing when we have time!

A CHURRASQUINHO IN THE CORNER
by marcbrazil
Street vendors are something easy to find every where!
CHURRASQUINHO is one of the words we have to say: BARBECUE, so I would translate as "STREET BARBECUE"..And I hardly miss one...that lady prepares such a delicious one. She stays very close to Gloria Metro Station, it is part of the old Rio located also in the Zona Sul Region of the city but in the Bay Area.

The churrasquinho of this lady is right located in the corner of Benjamin Constant Street with Gloria Street!
