The most Beautiful people and city
by Amendoeira
Rio is an amazing cenario for everything. Radical sports, night life, day life, coffe-shops, restaurants, walking, surfing, biking etc . Leblon s a division of Ipanema and the border is the Lagoa's Rodrigo de freitas Canal. At this place you will find a gueto called "cruzada São Sebastian" It looks like a condominum but is a verical favela. Avoid it. Leblon is maybe the safest place in Rio. Here you will find an expensive stores and restaurants, rich people, beautiful bodies and the Rio's rich way of life. Just lay on the beach, walk on the most famous sidewalk of planet, try a delicious green-coconut wather or just see the cariocas (Who born in Rio) from a bar, pub or coffeshop (I recommend cafeinna). In Leblon there is a expensive and elegand mall called "shopping Leblon" (how criative, isn't it). Just walk into to see were the richiest cariocas expend you money. I really loves the Tijuca's National forest. Its the place to see the most beautifull views fo Rio. I love find the best spot to see Rio throug the trees, find some monkeys (macaco prego & mico), birds and little paparots. At weekends you will find lots of families walking, cycling, taking a shower at falls, doing sports, barbecues, reading or just admiring the most beautiful city of the world. There is a lot of roads cutting the park but the better is Paineira's Road because it's closed at weekends for car access.
If you what to know other ways or hiking at the middle of park be shure to be with locals or a experiend guides. During the day you will find officers working at park but when the night comes they quit.
Local Scenes

Here's another picture of the typical city life. The grafitti portrays the views of the locals celebrating the candidancy of their president. Be sure to travel around the city and absorb the diverse culture that Rio offers. There are so many things to see and learn in this growing dynamic city.
A GOOD MUSEUM...FROM OUTSIDE :)
by marcbrazil
Good arts are seen in Fine Arts Museums where we can follow our the ages of our master piece, with famous painters like Picasso, Monet, Velasquez and the great brazilians Fontenelle Brothers we do not need to see a painting where any MODERNIST PAINTER DRAW A LINE and other stupid people simply name it "art".....But the museum itself in Niteroi is really one of the most impressive construction in our modern arquitecture, so we will just see the museum from outside, the view is really breathtaking.
The Museum is a construction of the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer and every day in Niteroi you should stop there for at least 10 minutes, except on mondays.

Blend in
by VeronicaR
I packed my big old bikini, definetely this was not one of those brazilian tangas. Not wearing one of those gives you away as a tourist.
Best thing you can do is go shoping, dress accordingly and just blend in.
Hotel Restaurant Bar personnel
by Groentje
The personnel at horeca places tend to be extremely friendly and helpful. I was told that they should be, because if they don't do a good job, and someone goes complaining to management, they risk losing their job quite quickly.
Management is not scared of not finding any other valuable personnel, as they are just lining up for some jobs. So when you thought your waiter/waitress was rude to you: go ahead and do complain!
I think this system is quite good, as it is really followed up.
They also talk a lot to their customers, a bit the contrary to personnel in Europe (at least where I live), where you are left alone when you're in a bar or restaurant.
