excellent location

Unique Quality: The hotel is located just one minute away from Copacabana beach and has great views of the ocean, the interior is not that interesting, but rooms are big enough and clean. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during New Years, 2003 and from early morning 31/12 we could enjoy people getting ready for night's celebration, installations of multiple stages on the beach for upcoming performances..all this turmoil!

Best Hotel in Rio de Janeiro

Location, location, location. Situated about 2/3's the way down Copacabana Beach, the Miramar Palace Hotel was built in luxurious style on the best part of the beach in time for the 1950 Rio World Cup of Soccer. Generations of travelers and diplomatic corps of many nations made the Miramar Palace Hotel their first home away from home. Old world charm, marble bathrooms, great restaurants, a wonderful staff, and unequaled views of Rio have continued to draw me back over 40 years. The Miramar IS Rio for thousands of world travelers. I lived at this hotel for six (6) months in the 1960's.

Unique Quality: Roof top jacuzzi overlooking beautiful Copacabana Beach, roof top bar, old world charm rooms, marble bathrooms, jacuzzi style bathtubs, morning breakfast in your room watching the perfect Sunrise on Copacabana Beach, the sound of the surf, the tempo of the city, topless women in tangas across the street in the sand. Belleza pura! You can swim and body surf in the water all day, unlike Ipanema, where the surf will kick your butt. Note: the surf in front of the Othon Palace Hotel, about midway down Copacabana Beach, will also kick your butt when the tide is coming in! Respect nature's power!

Almost forgot to mention the pulling in of the fish nets every morning right in front of the hotel. Help pull them in. I don't think they catch much now, though.

More about Miramar Palace Hotel

I had the opportunity to stay...

by agusting

I had the opportunity to stay in the MIRAMAR PALACE HOTEL of 4 stars located on the Atlantic Avenue with view to the beach of Copacabana. But I could travel several hotels and I can assure them that I save for the price of some, almost all are of very good quality. If their pleasure is the water of the pool and not that of the sea can choose several Hotels although for prices I recommend them The Othon Square located in the same avenue. Buzios presents a cheaper offer but of smaller quality in what concerns to since lodging most of them are Posed that conform to as small departments to very good prices. Walking is Inns of very good quality and I can assure them that the esfuezo is worth it.

Elegant Dining With a View of Copacabana

by tijuca about Miramar Palace Hotel Restaurant

I actually lived at the Miramar Palace Hotel for about four months. Life was good then, and a great deal of it was due to the fine food served on the third floor of the hotel.

The Miramar, like all upscale Rio hotels, knows how to treat you. But there is something about the tradition of fine dining that comes over decades of service that makes the Miramar a great place to be and eat. I am getting hungry now, just thinking about it. Filet Mignon, soups, and the home made breads.
