Besides Corcovado, Pão de Açucar, Copacabana, Ipanema, Barra da Tijuca there's a new spot in Rio: Cidade do Samba.
It's a place near dock concerned in Rio's Carnival. Working hours there is from 10AM to 5PM. There are shows tourists may watch. Permission is obtained when you buy a ticket. I am pasteing link to Cidade do Samba:

Niteroi, Pedra da Gavea (the place where you may find hand gliding or paragliders), Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and Parque Tom Jobim, Grumari beach are nice spots as well.

Travel Tips for Rio de Janeiro
The Terrace at Rio Sul.
Rio...

The Terrace at Rio Sul.
Rio Sul is a vertical shopping mall, but if you go up several floors and cross the parking area to the far north side, you will find an elegant music center surrounded by several high calibre restaurants and further up a winding staircase is an internet cafe. Carneval . . . impossible to describe, it just HAS to be experienced!
Go up corcorvada, the mountain...
by StretfordEnd
Go up corcorvada, the mountain that house the huge statue of Christ. Stunning views at the top, get a cab up there for around $10 US, then get it to take you to Sugar Loaf mnountain, where the infamous Cable Car scene in a James Bond film was shot. Especially good if its windy and the cable car is wobbling. Again, about $10 US in a cab. So much really, it has loads to see and do. The Maracana football stadium, in the district of Maraca, is well worth a look around, but DO NOT wander into Maraca itself armed with camera, jewellery, lots of cash, etc. Maraca is a very poor district, and muggings are commonplace.
Greet clerks in stores (clothing, shoe, etc.)
by ScubaBrz
The clerks will always greet you when you enter the store ( Bom dia =bowm ghee-ah=Good day) or (Boa tarde =bow-ah tar-gdee=Good afternoon)
If you don't want to try speaking Portuguese, just smile and say, "Hello".
They also display only 1 of each item & you must ask for the item, inluding the size (P/small, M/medium,G/large) or know your pants size in the metric system (My size 10 was about a 42)
Local drinks
by acemj
I took this picture in my hotel room of some Brazilian brand drink products. On the left, is Kuat a knockoff of the more popluar Guarana. My recommendation is to stick with the original that comes in a green can and skip this Coca-Cola Company substitute. In the middle is a Brahma beer a decent local brew. On the right is a bottle of Minalba still water.
ARTISTS IN THE FAMILY
by RafaelTheSecond
Tia Anna still works for the Traffic Department in the State of Rio, in a leisure time she dedicates on doing many art crafts with journal papers, and she does many nice things and sells for art fairs!;)
I am rpoud to have many people in my family with great artistic skills!
