Horrible stay, which started off with the hotel staff trying to swindle extra money out of me and my friend. They claimed my lodging.com reservation (which had been prepaid in full) was "cancelled", but they were more than happy for us to just pay them right then and there. RIGHT. Lodging.com said they never cancelled the reservation. what's interesting is the hotel staff made no attempt to contact lodging.com themselves to straighten out the situation. Also, it took them 2 days to fix our toilet.
This hotel is in a great location and is unique is a strange way. It has 14 foot sealings the lighting is awful and the floors are hardwood, it looks like a Havanna hotel from 1950. It is quite neat but hard to enjoy for a long time stay maybe 1 or 2 nights. The picture is of the dark hallway.
The Art Deco-style Olinda Othon Classic located right in the heart of the famous Copacabana Beach. Besides it's location, it's very moderately priced. We had a double room which was very spacious. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, and the service is great! Most of the staff speaks English which is a definite plus.
The hotel has large open windows facing the beach. There are tables and chairs set up facing the windows where you can hang out and read and enjoy the view of the beach. I really enjoyed staying at Olinda Othon, but I'd prefer staying in Ipanema over Copacabana.
